The Palma Mountain Film Festival (MCMP), which celebrates its eleventh edition in 2020, announces the 2nd Palma Mountain and Nature Documentary Short Film Festival, which will be governed by the following rules:
1. Objective
• The aim of this call is to promote and spread short documentaries on mountains (mountaineering, expeditions, climbing, hiking, caving, ethnology...) and nature (biodiversity and landscape).
2. Participation
• Participation is open to teams or individuals of any nationality who are over 18 years of age.
3. Material requirements
• Only one proposal per person or team may be submitted.
• Films may not exceed 20 minutes in length.
• Advertising material will not be accepted.
• Animated films and experimental pieces may be submitted.
• The date the short film was completed must be after 1 January 2017.
• Proposals may be silent, in Catalan, Spanish or other languages (in this case they must include subtitles in Catalan or Spanish, embedded or in .srt format).
• Short films must be presented in the following formats:
o HD video .mp4, audio aac
o HD video .mov, audio aac
4. Selection
• The jury will select a maximum of three films from all those submitted, which will be awarded and screened at the 11th Palma 2020 Mountain Film Festival.
• All teams submitting a proposal will be notified of the jury's decision and it will also be published on the Festival's website and social networks.
• The organisation will reject any material with obscene, violent, sexist, xenophobic, or racist content or that violates any fundamental rights.
• The jury's decision will be final.
5. Awards
Three awards have been established:
• Balearic Mountain and Climbing Federation Prize for the best MOUNTAIN short film, endowed with €500.
• Kenia Outdoor Prize for the best NATURA short film, with a mountain material voucher worth €300.
• FotoRuanoPro Prize for the best PHOTOGRAPHY, with a voucher for professional imaging material worth €300.
Cash prizes are subject to withholding tax.
Any of the categories may be declared void of a winner.
6. Presentation of materials
• The period for submitting proposals begins on 28 October 2019 and ends on 15 January 2020. Registration is free of charge.
• Short films must be sent via FilmFreeway or to palmamuntanyafilm@natprojectes.com with a URL and private link (YouTube, Vimeo, Google Drive ...) attaching:
o the form available on the website www.palmamuntanyafilm.com, completed and signed.
o 2 promotional photographs in jpg format with a minimum size of 4,000 px.
o 1 photo of the author or authors.
o photocopy of the ID card or passport of the author or authors.
7. Projection of the selected proposals
• The public screenings will take place as part of the programme of the 11th Palma 2020 Mountain Film Festival.
8. Publicity of the materials
• The short films selected will be advertised on the official MCMP website, in a range of media, on social networks and projected as part of the MCMP programming.
• The organisation may also screen the short films selected in the places and at the times it deems appropriate.
• The winning proposals may be exhibited by the organisation in cultural initiatives, mentioning the prizes obtained.
9. Observations
• Anyone taking part in this contest by presenting a short film is assumed to hold the copyright or to be authorised by the copyright holders to submit the work.
• Participants are responsible for ensuring that no third-party right has been infringed concerning the use of musical pieces in the submitted materials, nor any claims for image rights by the people appearing in them.
• Participants authorise the organisation to use stills, photographs and extracts from the films (maximum 3 minutes) for dissemination purposes via any communication or promotional medium, in order to publicise and raise awareness of the MCMP.
• Taking part in this competition implies the acceptance of these rules.
