This selection is open to women under the age of 35, who are Mexican or Mexican-American and local to the greater Los Angeles area*. Original works only.
Any narrative, documentary, animation, etc. with a total running time of less than 35 minutes are eligible for short submission. International and domestic films are eligible. Must be related to the concept questions (read below).
This year the open call will be directed to women, for them to address the concept of identity and equality by answering one of the following:
Identity
Who am I? Latina? Hispanic? Mexican? Mexican-American? American? Citizen of the world?
Equality
How can art contribute to create awareness of the importance to bring equality between women and men?
Can art help women to achieve a stronger presence in the world?
Can art empower women?
We are currently only accepting submissions via Vimeo web link only. If your video is password protected please include the password and be sure not to change the password for the duration of the decision-making process.
Please with your submission include:
• Artistic statement: the creative vision for each work, maximum 100 words, word document file.
• Artist short bio, maximum 100 words, word document.
*Other locations may be considered if the shortfilm really embodies the concept.
