"Barnafilmar" is a tiny annual film festival for young film fans. We are currently curating a no more than 45 minute program with animated films.
The films must be without dialogue or we must given permission to dub them to Faroese, a language spoken by people in the Faroe Islands, population 50000.
Barnafilmar is a not-for-profit collaborative project between the popup cinema Watch that Film, the website Familjan.fo and the G! festival (a music festival).
We screened our 2013 at G!, at HOYMA and in educational settings.
This year we're hoping to travel around the islands with Barnafilmar 2014 to libraries, schools and other Faroese cultural events for up to a year after the premier.
Children attending the summer screenings will be given one vote, which can be exchanged to a coloring printout from the film that the child would like to win.
The sheets will be numbered and we will keep track of the most popular request. The children will be encouraged to give us their drawings in return of the chance to win a sponsored price.
Last year the winning film and the coloring artist were at HOYMA, G! festivals new winter event. It is still uncertain when this years winner will be announced. But no later than in March 2015.
Filmmaker of the most popular film will be notified and recieve an award certificate as well as a children's jury drawing relevant to their film.
