About the festival

BISFF was conceived on an ambitious dream-fuelled evening, and the strength provided by multi-award winner Prakash Belawadi it came to fruition, Prakash who continues to be the festival mentor. The idea of BISFF was to create a platform for young and amateur filmmakers, where they could screen their shorts to discerning audiences and, more importantly, find constructive and critical feedback from experts in the field. In the very first edition of the festival in 2010, there were only a total of 40 short films submitted. This number rose to 3500+ shorts in 2019, where we saw an eclectic mix of Indian and foreign language films. The journey has been a struggle, but a very thrilling and fulfilling one. Today BISFF has the distinction of being one of the largest Short Film Festivals in India. BISFF showcases shorts from across the world, creating a physical space for a great experience of cinema. It brings together keen, like-minded audiences for the filmmakers and also exhibits works by past masters who have dabbled in short filmmaking that today is an independent art form. Additionally, the festival presents talks, panel discussions, demonstrations, and workshops with leading thinkers, professionals, and industry practitioners, providing an opportunity for young filmmakers to interact with the best in the industry.

Mission

With our direction being more digital for the future, we do hope to make this festival more than just a 3- day program, and powered by our OSCAR accreditation we hope to get bigger and better, faster!

Any narrative work of Animation fiction with a running time of less than 30 minutes, will qualify in the Animation competition section.The film has to be produced after January 1, 2018 and not submitted to previous BISFF edition. If the film is found to be produced before this term, it will lead to disqualification. Students need to submit scanned/photocopy of their Student id along with the film to get a concession, else will be disqualified. They need send a scan-copy of the valid student id along with BISFF Submission code to bisffblr@gmail.com

The languages considered for this are Kannada, Urdu, Tulu, Konkani and Kodava Takk. The film has to be produced after January 1, 2018 and not submitted to previous BISFF edition. If the film is found to be produced before this term, it will lead to disqualification. Students need to submit scanned/photocopy of their Student id along with the film to get a concession, else will be disqualified. They need send a scan-copy of the valid student id along with BISFF Submission code to bisffblr@gmail.com

Let's Include - An Inclusive Short Film Section (Fiction / Docu)

Description

This Section invites filmmakers to share their stories of disability through a short film. We welcome submissions from all filmmakers, ranging from the professional to the independent, student, or amateur. The filmmaker needs to be above 18 years of age to adult. We welcome entries from filmmakers who have a disability. This does not mean that the filmmakers are required to have a disability to submit. Films may be entered in either the documentary or non-documentary division. Non-documentary films can be of any genre. Genre: Fiction / Documentary Running Time: 30 minutes or less. No exceptions. Running time includes end credits. Formats: Video Link (any digital format) Production Country: All Production Year: The film must have been produced after January 1, 2019, for all. Language: All languages are accepted. Subtitles: English subtitles are required for all submissions
