About the festival

The Bevagna Film Festival (hereinafter also Festival and/or BFF) has as its purpose the enhancement of cinema and, specifically, of shorts (fiction, documentary, animation, music video), an artistic and cultural product capable of sublimating a story in a few minutes. Particular attention is paid to young Italian, European and international authors.

The BFF is structured in 3 phases:
- the first phase consists in the announcement of the selected works;
- the second phase consists in the announcement of the shorts candidates;
- the third phase consists of a final event, which will be held in the city of Bevagna, with screening and assignment of prizes and mentions.

It’s possible to subscribe for the edition of the BFF starting from 1 September 2020. The final event of the festival will take place in September 2021. The dates of the final event will be made public later, only and exclusively on the official website and / or on Festival’s social channels.

The second phase of the BFF consists in the announcement of the candidates.
For each prize, 5 candidates will be announced, nominated among the works that were selected in the previous phase of the Festival.
The prizes to compete for are the following:

- Best Short Award (cash prize)
- Best Animated Short Award (plaque or artwork)
- Best Short Documentary Award (plaque or artwork)
- Best Videoclip Award (plaque or artwork)
- Best Director Award (plaque or artwork)
- Best Screenplay Award (plaque or artwork)
- Best Actor Award (plaque or artwork)
- Best Actress Award (plaque or artwork)
- Best Photography Award (plate or artwork)
- Best Editing Award (plate or artwork)
- Best Original Music Award (plaque or artwork)
- Best Production Award (plaque or artwork)

Special awards:
- Award for the Best International Short (plaque or artwork)
- Award for the Best Italian Short (plaque or artwork)
- Award for the Best Comedy Short “Mario Mattoli” (plaque or artwork)
- Special Grand Prize awarded by a jury of journalists (plaque or artwork)
- Award for the Best LGBT short (plaque or artwork)
- Award for the Best Environmental Short (plaque or artwork)
- Award for the Best Director under 25 (masterclass)
- Pathos Distribution Special Award (distribution of the short for free for 6 months)
- Bevagna Città del Cinema Award awarded by a commission of the Municipality of
Bevagna (plaque or artwork)

The Festival Direction appoints a Jury of experts who, after evaluating the works selected in the previous phase, decrees the nominations.
The judgment of the Jury and the Festival Direction is unquestionable.
Applications are announced by official communication sent to the e-mail address issued during registration and / or on the festival's website and /or by the Festival’s social channels.
Candidates are notified 20 days before the date of the final event (please refer to point 9 of this regulation) and are required to give any confirmation of their presence or their delegate strictly within 10 days before the date of the final event.
Candidates are required to share, through the social channels relating to the work and / or other useful channels, the announcement of the candidacy, quoting Bevagna Film Festival.

The last phase of the BFF consists of the final event: the day of screenings and awards.
Candidates are invited to participate in the final event where the following prizes will be announced and awarded:

- Best Short Award (cash prize)
- Best Animated Short Award (plaque or artwork)
- Best Short Documentary Award (plaque or artwork)
- Best Videoclip Award (plaque or artwork)
- Best Director Award (plaque or artwork)
- Best Screenplay Award (plaque or artwork)

Terms and rules

There are four categories to compete:

a) Fiction short;
b) Short documentary;
c) Animated shorts;
d) Videoclip.

The theme is free for all categories. Italian and foreign works of all kinds are admitted to participate in the BFF, not exceeding 20 minutes, produced starting from 1 January 2019.
Each participant can submit an unlimited number of works.
The Festival Management reserves the right to admit works that for type, theme, duration or year of production do not respect the criteria indicated, or of establish subsections not provided in this regulation.
The submission is possible only and exclusively electronically through the FilmFreeway platform (http://www.filmfreeway.com).
For non-Italian shorts, it’s request a copy of the film subtitled in Italian or English, both for viewing through FilmFreeway, and for the participation in the final phase.
Of all the materials relating to the advertising and presentation of the work (stills, trailers, backstage, director's notes, production’s note, etc.) the publication is authorized and free of charge.
The shorts and the files received will become part of the BFF archive, exclusive purposes of study, cataloging, promotion, and reporting to other Festivals. The information contained will be used for the Festival catalog and for others printed or online publications relating to the Festival. Of these materials the publication is authorized and free of charge.
The author and / or producer and / or their delegate declare, at the moment registration, to be in possession of all audio and video rights of the work, and they relieve the Festival from any kind of responsibility.
