IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING COVID-19
At this time, the film festival is going ahead as planned, but with the news today that we could be looking at the possibility of 12 months of self-distancing, it may be required to postpone the film festival. We will definitely be going ahead with the film festival, as this will be needed more than ever after we all get through this.
Bridgwater Magazine is on a mission to bring indie film from the UK and around the world to the town.
The town of Bridgwater has seen it's fair share of horrors over the years, whether that be the battle of Sedgemoor during the Pitchfork Rebellion in 1685, the last battle in England, or the horror of slavery, which the town refused to be a part of, leading towards the prohibition of slavery.
Now it is a town which works together in various ways, one of which is in the creative industry, with people and organisations coming together to create a great atmosphere and an amazing opportunity to share the creativeness in the town and from around the world, best shown in the Bridgwater Carnival - the biggest illuminated carnival i Europe, possibly the world.
We bring these things together with the Bridgwater Horror Film Festival, a showcase of the best in horror worldwide, all in one place, in the Bridgwater Arts Centre which is itself historical, as it is Britain's first arts centre, being supported by the newly formed Arts Council. The Arts Centre was built in 1723, on the grounds of the old castle, and there have been many reports of strange goings on within the building.
As a part of the annual calendar of film festivals in Bridgwater, we are not supposed to play favourites, but can we help it if horror is our favourite genre?

We understand how important reviews are so, if we like your film, we will post a review on IMDb. This does not mean acceptance into the festival, it is just an additional thank you for submitting to the festival.
Also, all films which are accepted to be shown, will receive a free entry into the Bridgwater Online Film Festival, if you want to do this (https://filmfreeway.com/goonline).
PLEASE NOTE
It has been decided to move the Bridgwater festival to be around the Christmas period every year as of this season (Bridgwater 3). This is due to the Bridgwater Carnival taking place so close to Halloween.
While we are not a large film festival such as Cannes or Sundance, we provide a stage for horror shorts in a central location which is easily accessible and is open to all. Bridgwater is a growing town, and we plan on Bridgslaughter becoming yet another successful event within the town.
We will have several awards available though these are digital only, with us providing the winners with an official seal which will include the category in which they have come first second or third.
