A festival honoring films made in Ohio. This festival, an off-shoot of the Columbus International Film and Video Festival will highlight the best Ohio Filmmakers and the best Central Ohio High School Media Programs.

All films must be SHOT IN OHIO. A maximum of 15 minutes in length and produced no earlier than Jan 1st, 2014.

A $1000 prize will be given to the winner of the Ohio Shorts Competition

A $500 prize will be given to the winning high school for the Central Ohio High School Filmmaker Competition

Terms and rules

ALL FILMS MUST BE SHOT IN OHIO and produced no earlier than Jan 1st, 2014. . Filmmakers must be able to provide adequate proof of filming location upon request. Must be 18 or older to submit to the Ohio Filmmaker Competition. Under 18 must submit to the Central Ohio High School Filmmaker Competition.

One submission per Ohio filmmaker. Films are limited to a 15 minute RUN TIME. Students submitting to the Central Ohio High School Filmmaker Competition must put the name of their school in the synopsis.

Central Ohio High Schools are defined for the purpose of this festival as High Schools in Franklin County or a counties bordering Franklin.

Our preferred method of submission is by youtube or password protected vimeo link, however DVD's will be accepted (if postmarked by the deadline).

The Festival retains the rights to screen your film for the length of the Ohio Made Short Film and Central Ohio High School Film Festival. The Ohio Made Short Film and Central Ohio High School Film Festival retains the rights to screen the winners of each category at the Columbus International Film and Video Festival. You will contacted for permission if other opportunities for screenings arise throughout the year.

If your film is selected to play, you must provide the CIF+VF Ohio Made Short Film or Central Ohio High School Film Festival with a pro-res digital file, DVD or Blu Ray.

By entering your film for consideration for the CIF+VF Ohio Made Short Film or Central Ohio High School Film Festival, you authorize that your work is cleared for festival exhibition and accept full legal responsibility for the intellectual property therein. Entry into the festival constitutes permission to exhibit your work at the CIF+VF Ohio Made Short Film or Central Ohio High School Film Festival. The CIF+VF Ohio Made Short Film or Central Ohio High School Film Festival is also hereby granted the right to utilize an excerpt from any film submitted and accepted for exhibition at the Festival for promotional purposes. The undersigned shall indemnify and hold harmless the CIF+VF Ohio Made Short Film or Central Ohio High School Film Festival from and against any and all claims, liabilities, losses, damages, and expenses (including but not limited to attorney's fees, and costs of the court) which may be incurred by reason of any claim involving copyright, trademark, credits, publicity, screening, and loss of or damage to the screening videos entered.
