About the festival

The Cinema City International Film Festival is primarily focused on promoting young film authors and indie production from the country, the region and the world, but also on presenting legendary authors and their achievements through retrospectives and review programmes.
Conceptually, the festival is comprised of: Cinema City Films, Cinema City PRO and Cinema City Music
“Cinema City Films” – through ten selections, competition and review, this part of the festival screens some of the best achievements of new domestic and foreign productions. Every year the festival screens over 100 films, most of those being premiere screenings, and plays host to a significant number of film authors and crews from the country and abroad.
“Cinema City PRO” is intended for film authors and professionals from the country and the region. Its objective is to support education and networking and cooperation between the people who are the present and the future of domestic and regional cinema. In its activities it comprises two parallel directions of film production in Serbia – domestic film production and service of foreign production. PRO selection of the Cinema City festival is comprised of Cinema City Campus and Cinema City Industry.

“Cinema City Music” organizes the opening and closing parties of the festival, as well as numerous concerts and accompanying music events during the festival.

During its previous editions, the Cinema City International Film Festival screened over 600 films, welcomed approx. 300,000 film aficionados and more than 2,500 renowned film professionals from all over the world. Cinema City played host to the Board of the European Film Academy and numerous directors, producers, screenwriters, actors, and film professionals such as Guillermo Arriaga, Juliette Lewis, Béla Tarr, Nick Powell, Bruno Chatelin, Laurence Herszberg, Andreas Dresen, and many film stars from Serbia and the region.

Open Call for Up to 10,000 Bucks Program at the Cinema City Festival
Call Will Remain Open Until the 30th of May 2017

Cinema City International Film Festival invites filmmakers from all across the globe to apply for the Up to 10,000 Bucks selection. This selection is one of the most appealing festival programs which presents films made with no budget or with a budget of less than USD 10,000. Thanks to this authentic program, every year festival goers have a beautiful chance to enjoy unique low-budget auteur films from all over the world.

The Festival will take into consideration only films released in 2016 and 2017 with a budget of up to USD 10,000. All film genres are welcome. The call will be open until the 30th of May, and anyone wishing to apply can do so by filling out the form the following link: http://www.cinemacity.org/upto10000/

For the last nine years, the Up to 10,000 Bucks program has been offering a creative mosaic of diverse contemporary ideas, challenges and insights marked by the original expression of filmmakers from all around the world. The program presents feature films, documentaries, animated films, student and experimental films, all bound by the courageous venture of talented artists who are capable of creating a magnificent piece of art in spite of the lack of the financial assets.

The 10th edition of the Cinema City which is taking place in Serbia, city of Novi Sad, will offer to visitors a unique festival experience through carefully selected films of the newest production, made by young talents from all over the globe who are shaping the future of national and world cinema.
