1. For the official selection feature documentary films, productions from 2018-2020, concerning a wide range of environmental topics, including the relationship between human beings and their environment, will be considered.
2. Submitted films should not have been previously commercially exhibited in Mexico.
3. The submission deadline for the competition selection is January 15th, 2020 at 23:50 hours.
4. All material must be presented in its original version, with subtitles in Spanish or English.
5. The final display formats are: DCP*, BluRay, QT H.264 or Apple ProRes. Any other format will need a special authorization.
*If it is a DCP format, you will also need to send a BluRay for display in rooms that do not have DCP compliant equipment.
6. For registration, the films must send the film in a downloadable file, subtitle .srt file, stills, press kit, semblance and photo of the director and fill out the complete film infobox in the registration format.
7. The festival will use film stills and short clips from the movies for promotional purposes.
8. The selected films will compete for the following awards:
A).- JURY PRIZE FOR BEST INTERNATIONAL FILM (50,000 Mexican Pesos)
B.-) JURY PRIZE FOR BEST MEXICAN FILM (50,000 Mexican Pesos)
*YOUTH and AUDIENCE awards apply to the two competitive sections above.
C).- JURY PRIZE FOR THE BEST MOVIE IN THE RIVER BASIN SECTION (Winner will receive all money collected from a crowdfunding campaign, typically around 20,000 Mexican pesos).
D) The winning films will be invited to screen in Guadalajara International Film Festival’s Socio-Environmental section .
E) One of the winning films will be selected to compete for the 2020 Green Film Network Award, a prize awarded by the World Network of Environmental Festivals (Green Film Network) for the best environmental film worldwide.
9. The decision of the Jury board is indisputable.
10. Cinema Planeta will not pay ANY fee for the exhibition of Official Competition films.
11. In order to disseminate and raise awareness about environmental issues, Cinema Planeta performs screenings for cultural and educational purposes for schools, universities, festivals, institutions, cultural centers and non-governmental organizations in Mexico and in member countries of our network, as well in our Online platform. The selected films will be chosen to be part of a traveling festival in the course of 2020 and early 2021. The organizers of Cinema Planeta will communicate in advance to directors and/or producers and distributors the dates and places of each projection. They will also be considered for inclusion in educational programs for the Online platform or the POP Movement (Protect Our Planet) in Mexico that seeks to inspire young people to collaborate with local solutions to global warming. All screenings Online or during this traveling festival and POP programs will be free of charge to the public.
12. The selected films will be notified by Cinema Planeta´s Programming Department no latter than Tuesday, April 7th 2020.
13. All the materials and information requested during the submission process should be submitted no latter than 10 days after the personal notification. Films with incomplete information and materials will be disqualified.

15. The cost of registration will be:
• 14USD for international feature films
• 10USD for Mexican feature films
• 5USD for River Basin Section
• 5USD for international short films
• 3USD for Mexican short films
16. Short films will be accepted in both categories with a duration of less than 45 minutes and although they will not be eligible for prizes, they will be eligible for selection within the program of the festival’s 2020 edition.
17. Any matter not contemplated in this call will be solved by the Organizing Committee

1. Para la selección en competencia se considerarán largometrajes documentales, producción 2018-2020, que aborden el tema del medio ambiente en un sentido amplio, incluyendo la relación del ser humano con su entorno.
2. Es una condición necesaria que la película no haya sido estrenada comercialmente en México.
3. Las fechas de recepción de las películas para la selección de las tres categorías en competencia, son a partir de la publicación de esta convocatoria y hasta el martes 15 de enero de 2020 a las 23:50 hrs.
4. Todo el material para la selección en competencia debe presentarse en su versión original, con subtítulos en español o en inglés.
5. Los formatos finales de exhibición serán: DCP*, BluRay, QT H.264 y Apple ProRes. La presentación en otros formatos requiere autorización previa.
* Si el formato de la copia es DCP, será necesario también enviar un BluRay para su exhibición en salas que no cuenten con equipamiento DCP compatible.
6. Para su inscripción, las películas deberán enviar la película en archivo descargable, archivo .srt de subtítulos, stills, kit de prensa, semblanza y foto del director y llenar ficha técnica completa en el formato de registro.
7. El Festival usará fotografías y clips de las películas para su promoción.
8. Las películas seleccionadas competirán por los siguientes premios:
A) PREMIO DEL JURADO AL MEJOR DOCUMENTAL INTERNACIONAL (50,000 pesos mexicanos)
B) PREMIO DEL JURADO AL MEJOR DOCUMENTAL MEXICANO (50,000 pesos mexicanos)
*Tanto el PREMIO DEL JURADO JUVENIL, como el PREMIO DEL PÚBLICO, aplican solamente para las dos secciones competitivas anteriores.
C) PREMIO A LA MEJOR PELÍCULA EN LA SECCIÓN CUENCA (20,000 pesos mexicanos o lo que se recaude en la campaña de cooperación colectiva)
D) Las películas seleccionadas podrán ser elegibles para participar en la
Sección Socio-ambiental del FICG (Festival Internacional de Cine de Guadalajara) del 2020
E) Una de las películas ganadoras será elegida para competir por el 2020 Green Film Network Award, a prize awarded by the World Network of Environmental Festivals (Green Film Network) for the best environmental film worldwide.
9. La decisión del Jurado será inapelable.
10. Cinema Planeta NO pagará ningún monto por concepto de derechos de exhibición para las películas dentro de las tres categorías de la Selección Oficial en Competencia.
11. Con la finalidad de divulgar y hacer conciencia del cuidado ambiental, Cinema Planeta realiza funciones con fines culturales y educativos para escuelas, universidades, festivales, instituciones, centros culturales y organizaciones no gubernamentales en México y en países miembros de nuestra red de trabajo, así como en nuestra plataforma Online. Las películas seleccionadas serán elegidas para conformar una muestra itinerante sin fines de lucro en el correr del año 2020 y principios del 2021. La organización Cinema Planeta comunicará con anticipación a los directores y/o productores y distribuidores las fechas y los lugares de cada proyección. También serán consideradas para ser incluidas en la plataforma Online o en programas educativos para el Movimiento POP (Protect Our Planet) en México que busca inspirar a jóvenes a colaborar con soluciones locales contra el calentamiento global. Todas las funciones de nuestro Tour, Online o para el Movimiento POP son gratuitas y sin fines de lucro.
12. Los resultados de esta convocatoria serán divulgados el 25 de marzo de 2019 durante la conferencia de prensa que anuncia la 12ª edición del Festival.
13. Todos los materiales e información solicitados para el proceso de inscripción deberán enviarse a más tardar, 10 días después de la notificación personal. De no contar con toda esta información y materiales, la película será descalificada.

15. El costo de inscripción será:
• 14 USD para largometrajes internacionales
• 10 USD para largometrajes mexicanos
• 5 USD para películas de la Sección Cuenca
• 5 USD para cortometrajes internacionales
• 3 USD para cortometrajes mexicanos.
16. Serán aceptados cortometrajes en ambas categorías con una duración menor a 45 minutos que no participarán de los premios, pero serán susceptibles a ser seleccionados dentro de la programación del festival en su edición 2020.
17. Cualquier asunto no contemplado en esta convocatoria será resuelto por el Comité Organizador.
