About the festival

This is the 2nd annual CinemaDance festival on the Martha’s Vineyard, an island off of Cape Cod in Massachusetts. After the success of the first festival held in January of 2020 we are excited to open for submissions on March 31, 2020. Although a vacation destination, the island is a vibrant hub for the arts year-round. There are two well established dance residencies and performance organizations on the island, Dance the Yard and the Vineyard Arts Project. In addition music, film (Martha’s Vineyard Film Festival) visual and literary arts are prolific. Our mission is to introduce the community to the hybrid form of dance film and to enrich the arts on the island. This year the festival is scheduled for Jan. 15-17, 2021. We accept shorts up to 30 minutes and all forms of feature length films (documentary, narrative, non-narrative and experimental) Possible lecture, workshop and panel and prizes TBA.
The festival is open worldwide.

The curator, Lisa Gross recently moved to Martha’s Vineyard after living in Los Angeles for 23 years. Her dance career was put on hold when she became an education advocate for minors in the juvenile justice system. Now living in a small but vibrant arts community she is going back to her creative roots and passion for dance film. In addition to dancing Lisa participated in a fellowship program for Dance Media at The World Arts and Culture Dept. of UCLA and sat on the board of the Dance Film Festival in Los Angeles. Pathways Arts presents a winter program of music, dance, collaborative forms and writings. It's mission is to enrich the winter vineyard community with artists of all shape and sizes.
