About the festival

Cinemira - International Children's Film Festival is a wonderful event for families, film lovers and prodigies of filmmaking. Cinemira designed for children aged 4 to 14 and their families. It takes place in the central of the beautiful and exciting Budapest in spring - April 3th-5th, 2020.

During the festival we screen short animations, documentaries and live actions from all over the world and a selection of the best feature films for children. We have 6 awards including prize awards.

Cinemira organises an Industry Forum day on 3rd of April 2020 where we present the First Hungarian Pitch Forum for tv series and film projects for children. Also we invite international acclaimed professionals giving lecture on how to create relevant screenplay for children.
We will have the Writer+Director Meet up, where authors of the most successful contemporary children's book present their stories to filmmakers.

Cinemira is an interactive film festival, for that there are animation, filmmaking, make up, stunt, dance choreography and casting workshops for children and their families.

Cinemira launches Film market where you can find the best books, comics and posters related to children's film.

Behind the festival there is the team of the Hungarian Children's Film Academy that develops workshops for children aged 10-18 in the areas of film, television and new media throughout the year and also produces films for children. Cinemira is a member of European Children's Film Association.

Terms and rules

3rd Cinemira - Internation Children's Film Festival is accepting short films for competition section made for children by professionals.
There are categories for short live action, short animation and short documentary. The entry deadline is on 10th January, 2020.

The festival is held in Budapest, Hungary between 3th-5th April 2019.
We select 10 films for each category in the competition section.

II. CONDITIONS FOR SUBMITTERS

Date: Only works with a release date after January 1, 2018 will be allowed to participate in the competitive sections.

Length: Short films of up to a maximum of 15 minutes in length can participate in the competitions.

Submission: In order to have a film screened at the Festival it is necessary to fill in the application form at https://filmfreeway.com/festival/Cinemira.

The organiser will inform the applicants of their acceptance in writing by no later than 1th of March, 2020.

III. TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS

Short films and student films included in competition are accepted only in the formats Quicktime H.264 HD that can be uploaded at the online application.

IV. LANGUAGE VERSIONS

Competing films must be provided with English subtitles by the applicant. Other competing films are screened in their original version with English subtitles and at the same time with Hungarian subtitles provided by the organiser.

V. SENDING INSTRUCTIONS

Copies of invited films must be sent to the organiser's by 20th of March, 2020 through file senders to the following email address:

By accepting to get into Cinemira's competition or other screening program of the festival the authors give the right to the organisers of Cinemira to screen his/her film as part of Cinemira's program or Cinemira's a best of in between 2020 April- 2021 April.
