About the festival

**IMPORTANT INFORMATION REAGADING COVID-19**
Due to COVID-19 the festival has moved it dates to August 13th-15th 2020.

First of all, what is Cold Hawaii?

Cold Hawaii is an area in northern Denmark, that covers over 30 surf spots. There is sand, there is wind, there is water (pretty cold) and there are waves. But there are no palm trees, and no bikini surfing (unless you dare).

Cold Hawaii Surf & Film Festival is a mixture of dreams and ideas, to connect the passion for surfing and desire for movie-making. At the same time we want to show the world our beautiful Thy area and invite everyone to try surfing, windsurfing, kitesurfing and stand up paddling in Denmark and in the whole Scandinavia.

The movie competition is dedicated to both amateurs and professionals.

The unique factor about our festival is, that the competing movies must include cold water surfing. But it's all about the story and creativity. Every year we receive amazing projects, that make us laugh, make us cry or make us stop everything we do and go surfing, no matter how low the temperature of the water is.

If you wish to join us, be aware, we do not screen the movies and run the award show in the cinema or a theater. Our Festival’s main venue is an old, authentic and super cosy Kassehuset- which is the local fish landing facility and place where local fishermen store their boats during the winter. The place builds an amazing and unique atmosphere during the festival, which is worth to experience.
