FESTIVAL DESCRIPTION & INFORMATION
The 4th Copenhagen Underground Film Festival is an independent film & music festival which will take place from 18-20 September 2020. All screenings and events associated with the festival will be open to the public and will have donation-based entry, anyone wanting to attend a CU event will never be turned away from a lack of funds. All of the proceeds from this festival will support two causes-- The first will be a continued effort to support Rohingya refugees, who have fled ethnic cleansing in Burma via MSF (Doctors Without Borders). Submissions are open to everyone and the festival is free to submit to, late submissions however will incur a fee in which all of the proceeds will also be donated to benefit refugees. This has been not only one of our generation's greatest refugee crises but also one of mankind's and it still does not receive half of the attention or support which it direly needs.
The second cause which the donations will be split with is the Lumen Union-- a direct initiative started by Copenhagen Underground which aims to take funds received at events supporting the Lumen Union to purchase new projectors, speakers and gaming consoles and deliver them to refugee camps around the world in an effort to create safe cinematic/media spaces for children and adults in dire situations.
Our festival continues to adamantly cast a spotlight on DIY filmmakers who pursue their passion and work on their craft with little to no budget or resources. All while doing so in a medium that is rapidly becoming almost entirely dependent on these very aids. CU wants to create an environment which empowers filmmakers to continue to tell their stories, bands to continue writing music, artists to continue to create, and for anyone to become inspired to be a part of their community's culture. The festival will also give these artists an audience in the form of both their peers and the city.
Copenhagen Underground itself is a year-round, non-profit collective dedicated to being a vehicle of solidarity to the oppressed and an ally to those fighting oppression, injustice and fascism on a daily basis through the frequent of organization of free/donation-based film screenings, concerts, dinners and educational talks with all of the proceeds going to support various humanitarian initiatives, political prisoners and grassroots organizations.
--> By submitting to this film festival, you acknowledge and give consent to the Copenhagen Underground Film Festival to screen your film at the festival and also in a public arena as part of an event surrounding the festival.
By submitting to this film festival, you also acknowledge and give consent to the Copenhagen Underground Film Festival to use images and content from your film as promotional material for the festival and that you also have obtained the rights for music and any intellectual property in your film which is not your own original content.
As we are an organization that arranges a large number of events all year long and in many places outside of Denmark, you also acknowledge that your film will also be in consideration for other events which we will be organizing outside of the festival to audiences around the world. <--
This festival is open to the public, but this festival is also a safe space for everyone. No racism, sexism, xenophobia, homophobia, transphobia, ableism, or any act of discrimination toward any person will be tolerated in anyway shape or form.

CATEGORY DESCRIPTIONS
Short Fiction | Films with an original or creative narrative. (ALL SUBMITTED FILMS MUST BE 10 MINUTES OR UNDER)
Documentary & Non-Fiction | Expository films which comprise of true and/or ongoing events (DOCUMENTARY & NON FICTION FILMS MUST BE UNDER 30 MINUTES)
Everything Else | The "Everything Else" category will be an amalgamation of experimental films and music videos. Selected films will all be screened with one another across these three categories of which "Everything Else" consists of. (MUSIC VIDEO AND EXPERIMENTAL FILMS MUST BE UNDER 10 MINUTES
Bad Films | If you made an intentionally bad film or have a past work that you know is terrible, then you know what to do. (ALL SUBMITTED FILMS MUST BE 15 MINUTES OR UNDER)

SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS
1. ONLY ONE SUBMISSION IS ALLOWED PER ENTRANT.
2. ALL FILMS MUST HAVE ENGLISH SUBTITLES.
3. YOUR FILM MUST FALL WITHIN THE DESIGNATED LENGTH WHICH WAS SPECIFIED IN THE "CATEGORY DESCRIPTIONS" SECTION.
4. YOU MUST HAVE THE RIGHTS TO YOUR MUSIC AND ALL INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY USED IN THE FILM OF WHICH YOU HAVE NOT CREATED.
5. YOUR FILM MUST HAVE BEEN MADE AFTER "JANUARY 1, 2011".
6. THE QUESTIONNAIRE THAT WE REQUEST YOU ANSWER BEFORE CONFIRMING THE SUBMISSION OF YOUR FILM, MUST BE ANSWERED.
7. POSSIBLY THE MOST IMPORTANT ONE OF ALL: THE BUDGET OF YOUR FILM MUST BE UNDER 1,000 EUROS. IF COPENHAGEN UNDERGROUND ASKS FOR DETAILS ABOUT YOUR PRODUCTION'S BUDGET, YOU MUST PROVIDE IT.
8. SUBMISSION DEADLINES ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE.
9. BY SUBMITTING TO THIS FILM FESTIVAL, YOU HEREBY GIVE CONSENT TO COPENHAGEN UNDERGROUND TO USE IMAGES AND CLIPS FROM YOUR FILM FOR PROMOTIONAL MATERIAL
A SUBMISSION THAT DOES NOT MEET THESE REQUIREMENTS IS SUBJECT TO DISQUALIFICATION.
