On April 2nd and 3rd 2021 at Detroit’s historic Senate Theater, the 6th annual Detroit International Festival of Animation (DIFA) will celebrate and showcase a wild diversity of animations from animators and filmmakers local and international. DIFA will feature approximately 90 minutes of animated shorts ranging from experimental to quirky as well as more sophisticated mini features.
NEW FOR 2021 – DIFA is now hosted at the historic Senate Theater in Detroit! This revitalized 1920’s Art Deco theater is home to the world’s 8th largest Wurlitzer pipe organ and features 784 seats, a classic concession stand, comfy lounge areas and secure parking.
ALSO NEW FOR 2021 - Due to the pandemic, our 2020 festival was screened online during the festival weekend for the public to enjoy the selected animations. Because it was so well received, we have decided this year to include a single night password-protected online screening of the festival on our final night to allow international viewing of the festival. If selected, you will have the option to opt out of this online screening to be included in the theatrical release only.
