About the festival

ENCOUNTER is an annual festival curated around the theme of "Coming Together." The festival features theater, visual art, music, video, dance, panels, and discussions presented within "Collaboraction Studios."

The festival will be curated through a combination of open and invited submissions from all over the city of Chicago and will serve to engage the community with its theme of "Coming Together", and incite knowledge discussion and action. After the week-long series at Collaboraction Studios, select elements of Encounter will tour to Chicago’s Hamilton, Hermosa, and Austin neighborhoods with free events and community conversations.

Collaboraction is a 22-year old Chicago non-profit arts organization that is committed to the power of theater and art to cultivate empathy, knowledge, dialogue, and action for the betterment of society. "Collaboraction Studios" is Collaboraction’s headquarters and 3 venue performance space in the historic Flat Iron Arts Building in Wicker Park, Chicago.

Selected Film Stipend: $100

In addition, your work will be screened to audiences all over the city of Chicago.

1. In addition to submitting their work, applicants must also fill out the Google Form listed on Collaboraction's website (https://www.collaboraction.org/encounter-2019-submissions)

DO THIS BEFORE SUBMITTING YOUR FILM. THERE IS A CODE TO WAIVE THE ENTRY FEE ON THE GOOGLE FORM.

2.Submitted films must be a minimum of 5 minutes, and a maximum of 60 minutes.
3. All pieces must, in some way, center around a theme of "Coming Together."
