TERMS OF PARTICIPATION
The competition is open to short films from all genres in Europe, provided they have english subtitles. Documentaries are not eligible for this competition. Advertising, or image-based films are also excluded. All participants are allowed to enter more than one piece to the competition. Contributions cannot be more than 15 minutes long. The film must have been produced after January 1, 2019.
The closing date for entries is 30 September 2020.
Film submissions can only be made online. Recommended resolution: 1280 x 720p, Codec: H.264
Following Information must be submitted with the Application:
• Digital copy of the film (Format: mov, avi, mpg, mp4)
• Brief content description
• List of Contributors
• 1-3 still and scene images of the film (300 dpi, jpg)
Participation in the competition is only possible if all participants are in attendance during all days of the Festival, and a screening copy is provided. Possible formats are: DCP, mp4 or mov files in HD. Please do not use Beta Format!
The screening copies need to be sent per mail (on a CD/DVD/Blu-Ray or USB stick), or as a download, and be available to us by no later than the 30th September 2020.
The screening copy needs to have a ~5 second black-screen before and after the film.
If the screening copy has not been supplied, or is of lower quality, then the preview copy of the film will be screened.
Submitted versions of the films can be collected directly after screening, or returned to the participant at expense of the organisers (within Germany).

All films are screened in advance by an independent panel, and grouped into blocks for screening during the festival. A jury of experienced professionals from the fields of film, theatre and television will decide on the festival winners.
Applicants whose films are accepted to the competition, will be notified per e-mail. A complete list of accepted films for the festival will be available on our website from the 1st of November 2020. We ask you to refrain from inquires per phone.
AWARDS
All films that have been chosen for the competition, will be screened during the Festival, from the 3rd to 5th December 2020, at differing venues in Göttingen- in the Programme Cinema Lumière, in German Theatre (Deutschen Theatre), the University Cinema (UniKino) and in Cinema Méliès. The jury makes all decisions with regards to prizes and the awards ceremony. The decisions of the jury are final, and cannot be contested.
The jury can award the following prizes:
“Göttinger Golden Shorts” for the best film, worth 1,500 €
“Best Sound Design” for music and sound design, worth 750 €
“Audience Award” worth 750 €
3 special prizes "Innovative Idea", each worth 250 €
The legal process is excluded.
A small selection of submitted films, which did not make it into the competition, should still be able to be shown within the festival. Through co-operation with various Bars, is an opportunity for special exchanges between audiences and filmmakers. Filmmakers that are considered for this exchange will be contacted.
FURTHER AGREEMENTS
The Göttinger Kurzfilmfestival e.V. is a non-profit organisation, and exclusively pursues cultural purposes. Participants remain owners of all relevant copyrights and ancillary copyrights for participation within the festival. If the submitter is not the owner of these rights, they agree that they have obtained the appropriate authorisations from the rights holders upon application.
Films categorically excluded from the competition are those with pornographic, extremist, violence-glorifying, racist or discriminatory, along with films whose content violates applicable laws.
For any copyright infringements and related rights, the submitter bears complete responsibility and releases the organizer from any claims of third parties.
The submitter agrees to partial use of their work for Journalistic reporting and for corporate communication of the cooperating partners, along with the broadcasting of works for self-promotion of the festival (maximum 3 minutes, or 30% of the film).
Film copies are insured during the Festival, according to the material value of the copies, ideal value compensation is not included. Any claims for damages must be made no later than 10 days after the festival. Shipping is at the risk of the sender. Jurisdiction is Göttingen.
By signing the application, the applicant declares that they fully understand and will comply with the regulations of the competition. The organisers of the Göttingen Short Film Festival MAKE IT HALF! (MACH MAL HALBLANG!) will make any decisions upon cases of doubt that are not covered by the provisions of these regulations, in accordance with the rules of equality and common sense.

TEILNAHMEBEDINGUNGEN
Der Wettbewerb steht kurzen Filmen aller Genres aus dem europäischen Raum offen, vorausgesetzt sie verfügen über englische Untertitel. Dokumentationen dürfen in diesem Wettbewerb nicht eingereicht werden. Werbe- oder Imagefilme sind ausgeschlossen. Alle Teilnehmer*innen können eine oder mehrere Arbeiten einreichen. Die Filme dürfen eine Länge von 15 Minuten nicht überschreiten. Der Film muss nach dem 1. Januar 2019 produziert worden sein.
Einsendeschluss ist der 30. September 2020.
Filmeinreichungen sind ausschließlich online vorzunehmen. Empfohlene Auflösung: 1280 x 720p, Codec: H.264
Folgende Daten müssen dabei überbracht werden:
• digitale Kopie des Films (Formate: mov, avi, mpg, mp4)
• kurze Inhaltsbeschreibung
• Liste der Mitwirkenden
• 1-3 Stand- und Szenenbilder vom Film (300 dpi, jpg)
Eine Teilnahme am Wettbewerb ist nur möglich, wenn alle Teilnehmer*innen für die Tage des Festivals eine Vorführkopie zur Verfügung stellen. Mögliche Formate sind DCP, eine MP4 oder Mov Datei in HD. Bitte keine Beta-Formate!
Die Vorführkopien müssen auf Kosten des Einreichers per Post (auf einer Daten-CD/DVD/Blu-Ray oder einem USB-Stick) oder als Download an uns verschickt werden und spätestens bis zum 30.September 2020 vorliegen. Die Vorführkopien müssen ein ca. 5-sekündiges Schwarzbild vor und nach dem Film aufweisen. Sollte die Vorführkopie zum Termin der Vorführung nicht oder in minderer Qualität vorhanden sein, wird die Sichtungskopie des Films vorgeführt. Die eingereichten Exemplare können nach der Vorführung direkt zurückgegeben oder innerhalb Deutschlands auf Kosten des Veranstalters zurückversandt werden.

Alle Filme werden in einer Vorauswahl von einem unabhängigen Gremium gesichtet und für die Vorführung in den Kurzfilmblöcken des Festivals zusammengestellt. Eine Jury von erfahrenen Profis aus den Bereichen Film, Theater und Fernsehen wird die Entscheidung über die Preisträger fällen. Einreicher, deren Filme für den Wettbewerb angenommen werden, werden per E-Mail informiert.
Eine Liste mit angenommenen Filmen wird ab dem 01.11.2020 auf unserer Website einzusehen sein. Von telefonischen Anfragen bitten wir abzusehen.
PREISE
Alle Filme, die für den Wettbewerb ausgewählt sind, werden während des Festivals vom 03. bis 05. Dezember 2020 an verschiedenen Spielstätten in Göttingen zu sehen sein. Über die Preisvergabe entscheidet die Fachjury vor Ort. Die Entscheidungen der Jury sind endgültig und nicht anfechtbar.
Die Jury kann folgende Preise vergeben:
„Göttinger Golden Shorts“ für den besten Film, dotiert mit 1.500 €
„Bestes Klangbild“ für Musik und Sounddesign, dotiert mit 750 €
„Publikumspreis“, dotiert mit 750 €
3 Spezialpreise "Innovative Idee", dotiert mit je 250 €
Der Rechtsweg ist ausgeschlossen.
Eine kleine Auswahl der eingereichten Filme, die es nicht in den Wettbewerb geschafft haben, soll die Möglichkeit bekommen dennoch während des Festivals gezeigt zu werden. Durch eine Kooperation mit verschiedenen Bars haben Publikum und Filmemacher*innen eine besondere Situation des Austausches. Die Filmemacher*innen werden dazu gesondert kontaktiert.
WEITERE VEREINBARUNGEN
Der Göttinger Kurzfilmfestival e. V. ist ein gemeinnütziger Verein und verfolgt ausschließlich kulturelle Zwecke. Die Teilnehmer*innen versichern verbindlich, Inhaber*innen aller relevanten Urheberrechte und Leistungsschutzrechte für die Teilnahme am Festival zu sein. Falls die Einreicher*innen nicht Inhaber*innen dieser Rechte sind, erklären sie sich mit der Anmeldung verbindlich, dass sie die entsprechenden Genehmigungen bei den Rechteinhaber*innen eingeholt haben.
Vom Wettbewerb kategorisch ausgeschlossen sind Filme mit pornografischen, extremistischen, gewaltverherrlichenden, rassistischen oder sonstigen diskriminierenden Inhalten sowie Filme, deren Inhalt gegen geltendes Recht verstoßen. Für eine Verletzung von Urheberrechten und Leistungsschutzrechten tragen allein die Einreicher*innen die Verantwortung und stellen den Veranstalter von allen etwaigen Ansprüchen Dritter frei.
Die Einsender*innen sind mit der ausschnittsweisen Verwendung ihrer Arbeit für journalistische Berichterstattung und für die Unternehmenskommunikation der Kooperationspartner sowie für die Ausstrahlung (max. 3 Minuten bzw. 30 % des Films) zur Eigenwerbung des Festivals einverstanden. Filmkopien sind während der Veranstaltungen mit dem Materialwert der Kopien versichert, ideeller Wertausgleich ist ausgeschlossen. Etwaige Schadensersatzansprüche sind spätestens 10 Tage nach Festivalschluss geltend zu machen. Der Versand erfolgt auf Gefahr der Einsender*innen. Gerichtsstand ist Göttingen.
Die/der Unterzeichnende erklärt mit der Abgabe der Anmeldung, dass er das Reglement des Wettbewerbs voll anerkennt. Die Organisatoren des Göttinger Kurzfilmfestivals MACH MAL HALBLANG! entscheiden über alle Zweifelsfragen, die von den Bestimmungen dieses Reglements nicht erfasst werden gemäß Regeln der Gleichheit und nach gesundem Menschenverstand.
