About the festival

Serving as West Bengal’s upcoming premier film festival as the gateway of North-Eastern India, the Everest International Film Festival (EIFF) is founded to showcase the beauty of the Himalayan range, encompassed by tea gardens. Situated at the base of the Himalaya mountains in the plains of Darjeeling District by the side of River Mahananda, Siliguri is the 2nd largest city in West Bengal.

Breaking free from stereotypes and bringing films into theaters, classrooms, businesses, and even organizations throughout the state, the mission of EIFF is to present quality films from around the world as well as support, recognize and honor indie film makers. The EIFF will not only be a platform for showcasing films and networking but will also serve as a travel city to the transcending Himalayan scopes of Gangtok, Mirik, Kalimpong, Darjeeling and Kurseong inside India and furthermore to neighbouring nations like Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan and Myanmar.

Slated to be happening on January 09-10, 2020, the EIFF is a full-fledged three day film festival showcasing not only excellent films and contemporary filmmaking skills with features, shorts, documentaries, mobile films, music videos and web series; but also hopes to be a dedicated contributor to the cultural arts, economy and education, through a highly effective strategic partnership model. EIFF will be introducing unique programs not only during its 2-day period, but will also have year-round programming through fellowships and workshops to keep the spirit of film making alive.

The two day festival will see people of various communities thronging the venue to enjoy films from countries like USA, UK, Australia, Malaysia, Singapore, China, Belgium, Spain, Italy, Russia, Bangladesh, Iran, Poland and many others in English and the country’s own languages. Indian regional language films like Bengali, Hindi, Marathi, Bhojpuri, and south Indian languages including Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada will be showcased.
