About the festival

Expressions Film Festival (EFF) invites live-action and animated feature films, short films and documentaries in all languages from across the world for its second season, to be organized in Nagpur in December 2018.
Entries will be selected on the basis of their content, creativity, cinematic value and thoughts, regardless of their genres; and will be judged by a panel of learned and honest judges.
For the second season, we are inviting works produced after 1 January 2015.

The festival will be conducted in two competitive sections:
(1) FOREIGN GALLERY – For live-action and animated feature films, short films and documentaries made in any language outside India. Feature film having running time of more than 80 minutes and short films and documentaries having running time of 50 minutes or less are eligible in this section. Selected works will be screened during the festival.

(2) INDIAN SHOWROOM – For live-action and animated feature films, short films and documentaries made in any language in India. Feature film having running time of more than 80 minutes and short films and documentaries having running time of 50 minutes or less are eligible in this section. Selected works will be screened during the festival.

EFF would be having screenings, workshops and discussions, appearances by filmmakers and celebrities, and media persons.

OBJECTIVES OF EFF:-
1. To provide encouragement and appreciation to budding filmmakers
2. To make Indian filmmakers aware of latest standards of cinema
3. To promote content-driven regional films from across the country
4. To nurture fresh as well as experienced talents in the field of cinema

Terms and rules

MODE OF SUBMISSION: Films can be submitted to the EFF online via FilmFreeway only.
SCREENERS: All filmmakers must give online links for preview of their films. Later on, only selected films will be asked to send DVDs or downloadable links for the purpose of screening.
SELECTION: Notification about selection or disqualification will be sent via FilmFreeway. Finalist films will be notified via individual emails and social media announcements. Selected films will be screened during the festival.
DISQUALIFICATION: Works exceeding the prescribed time limit will be automatically disqualified.
FESTIVAL LINE-UP: Festival schedule or line-up will be announced on Facebook and Twitter at least a week before the festival.
SUBTITLES: Films made in languages other than English, Hindi and Marathi must have English subtitles.
GENRE: We invite work of all genres including Animation, Drama, Comedy, Adventure, Informative, Horror, Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Experimental, Romance, etc.
PREVIEW MATERIAL: For judging/preview purposes, we accept online screener, YouTube or Vimeo.
No cuts or changes in any film will made by EFF for any reason.
Due to the large amount of submissions received, EFF cannot enter into any discussion regarding films that are not selected for the Festival. The selection and scheduling of films screened at the festival is entirely at the discretion of the Festival.
EFF will not return DVDs or any other material to the filmmakers. Rather, all such material would be destroyed after the festival for safety reasons.
The festival has the right to disqualify a winning film for any reasons, without having to explain the reasons to the submitter.
Not all winning films will be screened. The festival has the right to screen and not to screen the winning films.
The festival has the right to work with any institution and partner festivals for all kind of cooperation, including joint events or promotions.
EFF does not pay any screening fees to filmmakers.
Submissions will be viewed and selected by a jury, which will include industry representatives, organizers and filmmakers. The decision of selection committees and jury will be final.
REPRODUCTION AGREEMENT: Submission of an entry gives the festival permission to have accepted work exhibited, photographed, locally telecast, and reproduced either in part or whole, for educational or publicity purposes. Filmmakers can request in writing that their material not be used for such purposes after the Festival. EFF reserves the right to use images from films selected in the festival for marketing purposes on web, print media and television.
COMMITMENT: If your work is selected, you, as the entrant, agree that you ‘will not’ withdraw the film from the festival and that you ‘will deliver’ your work to the EFF office before the deadline.
CHANGES AND ALTERATIONS: The Festival Management reserves the right to make necessary changes in the profile, regulations or scheduling of the festival, if it becomes necessary to do so due to circumstances beyond his/her control.
Participation in the Expressions Film Festival (EFF) implies understanding and acceptance of these terms and regulations.
