About the festival

Faith in Film is a film festival and screenwriting competition that takes place over the course of two days.

Our mission is to forge a film festival and screenwriting competition that will launch the careers of faith based writers and filmmakers and facilitate established artists in transitioning into faith based films; and to introduce faith based films to mass audiences, ultimately, giving them the same multi platform release schedules and revenue streams that traditional studio films and high end independent films enjoy; and to inspire, showcase, support, and develop writers and filmmakers of all faith’s to make great faith based films that leave others touched, moved and inspired; and filmmakers and distributors empowered to make and distribute more films with an element of faith.

Our screenplay competition accepts feature length scripts (up to 175 pages), short film scripts (up to 50 pages), stage plays, sitcom pilots, and dramatic television pilots.

Our film festival takes place over the course of two days and accepts feature length films up to 110 minutes in length and short films (up to 40 minutes in length) in several categories. It is a celebration of filmmaking that allows artists and industry professionals at all levels to come, network, and showcase their work. For many filmmakers it will be the first time anyone has seen their work on the silver screen.

We don't showcase any films online, but we are happy to link to any and all winning films.

The Faith in Film Screenwriting Competition rewards screenwriters with various prizes, including personal introductions to at least three top talent managers and or development executives. Our grand prize winner will also receive a one hour consultation with a top talent manager or production executive with script notes. Our top two finalists will also receive at least one personal introduction/consultation as well. These introductions can be invaluable to writers.

2020's Screenwriting Grand Prize Winner met with three top development executives: one whose company has produced over 20 films as well as a talent manager from Kersey Management, and producer, Justine Wentzell. Our screenwriting Grand Prize winner also received an hour long consultation with script notes on how to improve their project. Other finalists received consults with reps from First Fridays and Fictional Entity. Please note that these executives are not judges in any way shape or form. They are people we introduce our winners to after they've won our contest. 2019's screenwriting winners received several personal industry introductions and our grand prize winner received a one hour script consultation with the top manager at Fictional Entity.

Please note that we do not advertise who we will be introducing our screenwriting grand prize winner to as we prefer to tailor the introduction to the individual writer's style so as to get them the most benefit. For example, if our winner wrote a drama, we wouldn't be connecting them with people who specialize in comedy.

Only the screenwriting Grand Prize Winner and top two Finalists receive industry distribution and prizes while Semi-Finalists are only rewarded with laurels and online recognition like in most screenwriting competitions. Prizes and recognition will not be given to any other entrants.

Film Festival Awards are given to filmmakers in several categories and the director behind the festival's "Best of the Fest" film will be awarded with introductions to three separate literary managers and or development executives.

Great scripts of all lengths for film, stage or television that contain an element of faith, hope, love, and inspiration. They can be based on faith, but don't have to be as long as there is an element of faith to the script. They can be G, PG, PG-13 or even R as long as an element of faith is involved in the protagonists struggle. For example, we love family films, however, we also love gritty films based on men and women who have had to fight to turn their lives around.
