UPDATE: FAR OUT has been cancelled for 2020 in response to COVID-19
FAR OUT NASHVILLE, “an acid-soaked church of audio and visual delights,” is once again calling all psychonaut filmmakers to submit avant-garde films and animations that present physical voyages, psychedelic journeys, or a phenomenological experience of the world. We are interested in experimental and psychedelic films from any time, any dimension, and now any length.
Theme for 2020: The Spiritual (mysticism, metaphysics, transcendentalism, altered states, and the expansion of consciousness). We are looking for visionary, lyrical, trance, flicker, underground, formally radical, visually experimental, and bizarre 16mm films and digital videos that somehow resonate with the theme.
FAR OUT FILM FEST is committed to paying screening fees to all participating filmmakers.
We will announce an Audience Award, a Jury Award, and a Director's Choice Award. Winners will receive exclusive prizes from Third Man Records, as well as free Weekend Passes to the Far Out Nashville music festival (June 19-20, 2020).
