About the festival

What does it mean to be "in bloom"? Is it the literal flowers on the May Queen dress or the half-demented smile from Dani who wore it in Midsommar? Being in bloom can be interpreted in several ways: change, growth or a literal plant.

The Council for Greater Arts of Lima, Ohio is hosting their third annual Film Festival, FAVORITE FLIX FILM NIGHT PRESENTS IN BLOOM in Lima, OH on October 22 and 23, 2020 and challenge filmmakers from Ohio and surrounding states to exhibit their best interpretation of our theme. Humanity is in a constant state of flux, sometimes beautiful, sometimes disastrous, but always in motion. It is the human condition that is consistently "in bloom" and we want to see how you apply this idea to cinema.

October 22 will present a showcase of short films from regional filmmakers representing all genres. October 23 will be a screening of a specially selected regional feature film.

A cash prize of $1,000 and $500 will be awarded to the Best Feature and Short Film.

All featured filmmakers will have the opportunity to host a brief Q&A to give details about the making and inspiration of their films.

A cash prize of $1,000 and $500 will be awarded to the Best Feature and Short Film selected by the jury. All films accepted for screening will be provided with Festival laurels.
