Queretaro International Film Festival, in colaboration with Red Nacional de Arte, calls national and foreigners filmmakers to register their works in the competitive sections of the first edition, which will take place from 09 to July 13, 2017.
Fiction Shortfilms
Will be considered mexican or foreigners works, completed in 2015-2017, with a maximum runtime of 43 minutes (including end credits). Films made in any technique could apply, including animation.
Documentary Shortfilms
Will be considered documentaries from national and international filmmakers, with a maximum runtime of 43 minutes (including end credits), completed in 2015-2017. Pieces made in any technique could apply, including animation.
Tombstone Nights
National or international films of horror, suspense, science fiction and fantasy, with a runtime of no more than 120 minutes, completed in 2015-2017.
Music videos, commercial works, films that have been distributed on DVD or online for free without a password are not allowed.
All films can be registered at par in the online selection, which will be shown on the official website of the festival (http://queretarofilmfestival.org/) during the event dates. This selection can not be subject to competition, so the pieces in this category will be considered for awards only in the "Fiction Shortfilms", "Documentary Shortfilms" or "Tombstone Nights" categories.
Works will be received from the time of publication of the call for entries and until 23 hours (Mexico-City central time) of 29 March, 2017.
Entries must be submitted in their original language, with subtitles in Spanish or English if needed.
90% of the profits earned by the registration fees will be used to award each category in competition. The bag will be distributed equally to the three winner works. Only one work will be awarded per section.
In addition to the above, additional prizes of sponsors of the festival may be granted.
The Jury will be entitled to award other special mentions that they deemed for each category.
The works to form part of each section will be chosen by a selection committee, whose decision is final.
Selected works could be part of national and international exhibitions during 2016 and 2017. By participating, the applicant also accepts the use of frames or segments of the piece registered for the dissemination and development of printed or electronic materials such as invitations, posters, postcards or virtual catalog.
Exhibition formats during the festival are DCP, Bluray or Apple ProRes 422 (Digital Copy). Under no circumstances will participants be paid for any rights to exhibit the submitted work.
The list of selected films will be published in the official website of the festival on May 28, 2017.
Registration of works to the Queretaro International Film Festival constitutes acceptance of the rules of this call and renunciation of any claim or legal action against the Festival, Red Nacional de Arte, their representatives or affiliates.
Any matter not specified in this call will be resolved by the organizers.

ESPAÑOL
El Festival Internacional de Cine de Querétaro, en colaboración con Red Nacional de Arte, convoca a realizadores nacionales y extranjeros a inscribir sus cortometrajes en las secciones competitivas de su primera edición, que tendrá lugar del 09 al 13 de julio de 2017.
Cortometraje de Ficción
Podrán inscribirse trabajos mexicanos o extranjeros finalizados entre el 2015 y 2017, con una duración máxima de 43 minutos (créditos incluidos). Se aceptarán piezas realizadas bajo cualquier técnica, incluyendo animación.
Cortometraje Documental
Se aceptarán documentales de realizadores nacionales o internacionales con una duración máxima de 43 minutos (créditos incluidos), finalizadas durante el 2015 y 2017, hechos bajo cualquier técnica, incluyendo animación.
Tombstone Nights
Podrán concursar películas nacionales e internacionales de horror, suspenso, ciencia ficción y fantasía con una duración no mayor a 120 minutos, realizadas durante el 2015 y 2017.
No se aceptarán videoclips, trabajos exhibidos comercialmente, realizados con fines promocionales, o que hayan sido distribuidos en DVD o por Internet de manera gratuita. Se permite que hayan sido distribuidos por Internet protegidos con contraseña.
Todos los trabajos pueden ser inscritos a la par en la selección online, que será mostrada en la página oficial del festival (http://queretarofilmfestival.org/) durante las fechas del evento. Esta selección no podrá ser objeto de competencia, por lo que las piezas inscritas serán consideradas para su premiación solamente en las categorías "Cortometraje de Ficción", "Cortometraje Documental" o "Tombstone Nights".
Se recibirán obras desde el momento de la publicación de la convocatoria y hasta las 23 horas (tiempo central de México) del 29 de marzo de 2017.
Los trabajos deberán ser presentados en su idioma original, y con subtítulos en español o inglés si fueran necesarios.
El 90% de los beneficios obtenidos por las cuotas de inscripción se destinarán a la premiación de cada categoría en competencia. La bolsa se repartirá en partes iguales a los tres trabajos que resulten ganadores. Se premiará un trabajo por sección.
Además del antes mencionado, se podrán otorgar premios adicionales de patrocinadores del festival.
El jurado podrá otorgar menciones especiales para cada categoría.
Los trabajos que formarán parte de cada sección serán elegidos por un comité de selección, cuya decisión es inapelable.
Los trabajos seleccionados podrán formar parte de muestras nacionales e internacionales en las que participe el Festival durante el 2017 y 2018. Al participar, el postulante acepta también el uso de fotogramas o segmentos de la pieza inscrita para la difusión y elaboración de materiales impresos o electrónicos, tales como invitaciones, carteles, postales o catálogo, en caso de que así se requiriese.
Los formatos de exhibición durante el festival son DCP, Bluray o Copia Digital Apple ProRes 422. Bajo ningún caso se pagará por los derechos de exhibición.
Los resultados de la presente convocatoria serán publicados en el sitio oficial del festival el 28 de mayo de 2017. Se contactará a cada participante seleccionado por correo electrónico.
La inscripción de trabajos al Festival Internacional de Cine de Querétaro implica la aceptación de las bases de esta convocatoria y la renuncia a cualquier tipo de reclamación o acción legal contra el Festival Internacional de Cine de Querétaro, Red Nacional de Arte, sus representantes o afiliados.
Cualquier asunto no especificado en la presente convocatoria será resuelto por los organizadores.
