About the festival

**COVID-19 UPDATE: To ensure the safety of our guests and community, we have decided to hold the 19th Annual Filmed by Bike Film Festival ONLINE again for 2021. Exact festival dates TBA but festival will be an interactive YouTube Livestreaming event including filmmaker chats, interviews, and of course multiple new film programs. We hope you can join us! **

Filmed by Bike is a film festival in Portland, Oregon that features the world's best bike movies. Screening annually at the historic Hollywood Theatre over a single weekend every May, we curate an inspiring collection of films and award the best of the year. After our main event, the selected films then go on tour to over 40+ cities worldwide.

Over the course of a busy weekend, we host filmmaker events, a bike ride, after parties and three days of film programs at The Hollywood Theatre. Filmmakers from around the world flock to Portland for this spirited event, an opportunity to meet other filmmakers, share filmmaking tips and explore Portland by bike with local bike enthusiasts.

Film submissions come from independent filmmakers worldwide. Submissions are accepted year round, with the deadline of January 20th for the following year’s program. Hundreds of international entries are submitted every year, and the very best (around 70) are featured in our programs. A panel of esteemed jurors makes that tough decision. Entries are evaluated by an esteemed jury of bicycle and film enthusiasts. We accept Jury nominations every fall.

Filmed by Bike movies are now seen all over the world and our screenings regularly sell out. We are so proud to be a part of this global bike movement.

Golden Helmet Award (Top Prize of the festival)
Music Award (Best use of independent music)
Local Award (Best of Oregon-made films)
Audience Choice Award
