About the festival

Brighton & Hove Pride is one of the biggest Pride festivals in the world, and The Guardian describes it as “The country’s most popular LGBTQ+ event”.

In 2019, FilmPride showcased a week-long series of sold out events with an LGBTQ+ theme, including the premiere of a documentary about activist Peter Tatchell, with Peter in attendance for an audience Q&A, and Shorts Out!, the LGBTQ+ short film, documentary and animation festival.

This year, FilmPride will also include features.

Further to the COVID-19 outbreak, we, like a majority of festivals, have had to make the difficult but necessary decision to cancel our physical events. This year, FilmPride will be an online festival - but not just that! It will also be broadcast on Brighton and Hove's local TV station, Latest TV, featuring the 'best of the best' of the festival. This will be a fantastic opportunity for selected filmmakers to have their work viewed by thousands more.
