About the festival

Festival thirteen. Lucky for some.

Filmstock will return again. We don't know where or when, but rest assured it will be chock full of all the scheming that made it one of Britain's most beloved independent film festivals, with a few new flavours thrown into the mix.

Filmstock's esteemed jury, and audience, will judge various categories and certain awards will be organically created based on the festival's overall programme.
However, there will be an award for BEST SHORT, BEST SHORT DOC and BEST FEATURE, along with writing, editing and visual categories.

Terms and rules

Final exhibition format must be provided as a high quality digital file. The entrant guarantees that they have legal right to submit their film FILMSTOCK and have obtained all necessary rights and clearances to have it publicly screened during the festival dates.

Submission of the film confirms that FILMSTOCK has permission to exhibit the work at the 2019 festival, and that the entrant understands that no screening fees or other reimbursement is provided should the film be accepted for screening.

Submission Eligibility. All submissions must have been completed after 1 January 2017.

Premiere status. We like good films. We don't mind if other people have seen them before, but it is easier to pull a crowd in if they haven't played 'really' close to us before. So we'll leave that one to you.

The film may not be withdrawn from the festival once the programme has been published.

Subtitles & Language. All films not in the English language are required to have subtitles.

Film Classification. All films screened during the festival receive an age rating that is decided by the local authority.

The submission fee is non-refundable.

Notification. FILMSTOCK endeavours to complete all selection procedures by end of September, and inform all submitting parties in writing, if their film has been successful or not after that time.
