About the festival

A snapshot of today, looking to tomorrow: Frame Rush, the annual two-day screendance festival, takes place in March 2020 at The Place, London. It explores the definition of screendance and celebrates the inherent collaborative nature of the union between film and dance.
Tickets are now on sale: https://www.theplace.org.uk/whats-on/collections/frame-rush-2020

By bringing together makers from a multitude of disciplines and backgrounds, Frame Rush will question what it means to be creating movement on screen today. It invites new audiences to add their voices and challenge what place this hybrid form will hold in the future.

About submission fees
We know that submission fees are a complex, and sometimes contentious, part of film distribution in screendance.
Last year, we did not charge a submission fee and received over 2,000 entries, and 1,317 of these had nothing to do at all with the festival or with screendance. They had to be sifted by a staff member who wasn’t paid for that time. We fully recognise that artists are so often underpaid or even unpaid for the work they do, and particularly are underfunded for the effort that goes into distribution; but having one more person perform unpaid labour doesn’t improve that situation either. We have therefore decided to charge a small fee to discourage those who submit to any festival with a free submission.
We have kept this fee as low as possible. If your financial circumstances prevent you from entering a film that matches the festival call, please contact us explaining that and we will offer a waiver.
