About the festival

Grizzdance Film Festival is excited to announce its call for submissions for Grizzdance 2021!

It is Grizzdance’s goal to help celebrate young filmmakers throughout southeastern Michigan and the surrounding area. Whether you’re in high school or college, we want to see your films! We know this past year put a damper on a lot, especially in the way of production. But we also know that you all have been hard at work being creative in new ways and we are excited to open up our call to whatever kind of film you’ve been making (Youtube, TikTok -- be inventive!)

We pride ourselves on being as accessible as possible by making our submission price absolutely free!

---

Grizzdance Film Festival is programmed by a team of Oakland University students with festival expertise, working alongside the faculty of the university's film program. The festival experience is designed to facilitate networking and professional development opportunities for emergent filmmakers in the metro Detroit area.

Our goals are to:

- Provide a showcase for young filmmakers to screen their work in a thoughtfully curated environment with maximum opportunity for feedback from audiences
- Offer professional development opportunities for emergent filmmakers to expand their artistic networks, interact with fellow filmmakers, and discuss their work with OU Film faculty
- Recognize outstanding work at the high school and university level through the awarding of juried prizes

GENERAL FESTIVAL RULES

# Eligibility

There is no charge for submission to Grizzdance, but in order to be eligible for selection, filmmakers should be current high school students or recent graduates. Films will be considered eligible for submission so long as one of the creative leads on the project meets this criterion. Please specify which of the filmmakers is a student in your submission, and indicate their school affiliation.

One of the priorities of the Grizzdance Film Festival is to provide professional development and networking opportunities for emergent filmmakers, and to that end, we strongly encourage filmmakers whose films are programmed to attend the festival. Relatedly, filmmakers who reside within the Great Lakes area will be given priority consideration.

# Submission

Only online screeners will be accepted for consideration.

With the submission of this film I agree to the following:
--I am authorized to submit this film to Grizzdance Film Festival for consideration.
--I (or a member of my creative team) meet the conditions for eligibility outlined above.
--I have obtained all necessary rights and clearances.
--I have read, understand and agree to all the requirements as stated in the above "General Festival Rules."

Extended Deadline
Early Bird (14th September, 2020) €0
Regular (20th November, 2020) €0
Late (18th December, 2020) €0

Our programmers are already making decisions about which films to include by late November. We encourage filmmakers to submit by one of our earlier deadlines to ensure fullest consideration is given to their work. However, we recognize that some filmmakers require additional time to complete their projects. We will continue to consider films submitted up until our extended deadline of December 18, but cannot promise fullest consideration to those films which are not submitted prior to our Regular Deadline.
