About the festival

Emmy award-winning independent filmmaker Dante James spearheads the Hollywood Weekly Magazine TV and film production unit, a new division of our film festival (HWMFF). In addition to show running his Black Pearl Media Works and Hollywood Weekly projects, he is available to show run projects for independent companies and individual filmmakers in association with the emerging Hollywood Weekly Magazine production and distribution network. Dante's unique production experience in both narrative and documentary filmmaking coupled with Hollywood Weekly Magazine's extensive promotion and branding expertise positions Hollywood Weekly Magazine production, consultation, and distribution services to take projects from conception to production, promotion, and distribution.

Currently, HWMFF has a first-look deal with BK Fulton's Soulidifly Productions and is exploring deals with several major streaming services. We are now accepting new submissions.

All film projects will be reviewed by our judges and published in our magazine for public feedback. Those with demonstrated reader interest and favorable judges rating will be featured in our Film Festival.

Upon submission you have the option of purchasing advertising space in our magazine and featured in an article written by HW staff that will be published in our International, National or Los Angeles area distributed Hollywood Weekly Magazine. Films with the most favorable rating will be screened at the 7th Annual HWMFF which will be held at a major studio in Los Angeles on May 15,2021

Terms and rules

You authorize Prather Jackson and/or Hollywood Weekly Magazine, LLC (HWMFF) to represent your film and/or screenplay(s) to major studio executives, and others whom we have established relationships. You agree to pay us a fee of 12.5% if we are successful in helping to connect you or your film project with financing or an employer, and you accept the offer. This right is non exclusive, and is subject to a more detail agreement once an opportunity is secured. In the unlikely event of any dispute that results in litigation, both parties agree to seek arbitration first. In any event, this matter shall be governed by the Laws of the State of California.

Description

We are often asked, how do you get contacts in Hollywood? One of the best ways to get known in the film world is by writing screenplays and entering contest. Hollywood Weekly Magazine Film Festival has established relationships with leading Hollywood Producers and we are now accepting screenplays. All types including comedies, drama, sci-fi, etc., will be considered. * Round 1: An early cut read by one judge on all submitted scripts. *Round 2: A mid cut read by one judge on the top 33% of scripts as determined by the judges. * Round 3: A complete read as determined by the previous rounds. The top 10 finalist in our screenplay competition will be invited to attend our film festival to meet producers and agents.
