Horror 48HFP is coming to Houston!
The Horror 48HFP is very similar to the regular 48HFP that you already know and love. The twist? All of the genres are horror themed. If you're ready to strap that camera back on, scary style, then save the date for Houston's inaugural Horror 48HFP!

Filming Weekend: Fri Oct 6 - Sun Oct 8, 2017
Premiere Screenings: Thurs Oct 26, 2017

Filmmakers from all over the Houston, TX area will compete to see who can make the best horror short film in only 48 hours. The winning film will screen at Filmapalooza 2018.

Early Bird: $150/team ends Sep 11
Regular: $175/team ends Oct 6

Kickoff Event: Oct 6
Dropoff Event: Oct 8
Premiere Screenings: Oct 26
Awards Ceremony: Nov 2

In the past our panels of judges have included film critics, producers, actors, and other filmmakers. Awards are presented for many categories.

Judges Considerations For Best Film:

Artistic Merit (story, creativity, entertainment, etc.) - 45%
Technical Merit - 30%
Adherence to the Assignment - 25%
Audience Award

All films, on-time and late, are eligible for the Audience Award, which is determined by audience ballot at the premiere screenings in each city.

The winner of Best Film of 2017 in each city will be screened at Filmapalooza 2018.

Additional prizes may be available from national sponsors.
