SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS:
ELIGIBILITY: All filmmakers selected to present at Joedance Film Festival must have a North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia or Tennessee United States connection (a resident, a previous resident, or films which take place in, or are filmed in, the Carolinas, Georgia or Tennessee and/or feature lead actors with Carolinas, Georgia or Tennessee roots). Submissions not meeting any of these requirements will not be accepted. If you submit, and it is determined your film does not meet the requirements, you will not be refunded. If you are unsure of your film’s eligibility, please reach out to Festival Director Chip White at chip@joedance.org.
FILM SUBMISSION: All filmmakers are required to provide an online link to their film via FilmFreeway. Do not send master tapes or other originals. Submissions will not be returned to the applicant.
FILM LENGTH: All films eligible for submission must be short films between 1 to 30 minutes in length. Feature films are not accepted.
MULTIPLE SUBMISSIONS: Maximum 2 films allowed. Separate forms are required for each submission.
LANGUAGE: Films must be in English or contain English subtitles.
FILM AND FILMMAKER INFORMATION: Submitted films must include the following information in the online description: Title, Running Time, Category, Contact Information (Name, Postal Address, Email Address, and Phone Number). All information is required for consideration.
SELECTION
SELECTED FILMS: Selected films are chosen for their artistry, strength of content, originality, and overall quality interpretation of category and genre. Selected filmmakers will be required to submit a recorded Q & A video as part of the festival.
SELECTION NOTIFICATION: During the process, filmmakers will be notified of their film's status. After the submission period ends, acceptance and rejection notifications will be sent electronically to the email address provided. Filmmakers will be notified by June 13, 2021.
SCREENING FORMAT: All selected filmmakers will be asked to submit a link or digital download of their final films for screening.
SCREENING DISPLAY MEDIA: All selected filmmakers should submit single-sheet art, posters, trailers and headshots for social media promotion leading up to and following the Festival.
EVENT ATTENDANCE: All selected filmmakers should attend the festival weekend (August 5-7, 2021) and participate in the Question And Answer Session immediately following their film's screening. Filmmakers each receive 2 VIP passes for the festival, including access to all screenings; the Thursday, August 5th, Cultural Arts Evening Showcasing ArtsPlus; and the Friday, August 6th, Filmmakers' Dinner & Saturday, August 7th, Red Carpet Event. Two passes will be awarded to each of the filmmakers team for both virtual and in person events.
Student film screenings are Saturday afternoon, August 7th, 2021. Selected filmmakers will receive 2 tickets to the afternoon Student Film Screenings on August 7th, 2021.
JUDGING: The judges for the festival have been carefully selected and consist of working industry professionals, each with a broad and unique knowledge of cinema. Jurors are not directly affiliated with the organization and are separate from all filmmakers and films submitted for consideration.

TERMS & CONDITIONS:
Joedance Film Festival is hereby granted the right to utilize an excerpt from any film submitted and accepted for exhibition at the festival, for promotional purposes, leading up to and following the event. In addition to promotional materials leading up to the event, Joedance Film Festival is also granted the right to a one-time screening of submitted film(s) at the event.
The individual or corporation submitting the film hereby warrants that it is authorized to commit the film for screening and understands and accepts these requirements and regulations.
The undersigned shall indemnify and hold harmless Joedance Film Festival from and against any and all claims, liabilities, losses, damages and expenses (including but not limited to attorney’s fees and costs of the court) which may be incurred by reason of any claim involving copyright, trademark, credits, publicity, screening and loss of or damage to the videos entered.
