About the festival

Instituted in 2014, the Kehillah of Chester County's Summer Shorts Film Festival is proud to be celebrating its seventh year in 2020. Originally held in a meeting room at The Colonial Theatre in Phoenixville that accommodated 35 audience members, the festival has grown considerably and now occupies a 174-seat state-of-the-art screening room in The Colonial's new expansion - Bank on The Arts wing. As an eight-session screening and discussion series, we feature a fantastic collection of outstanding vintage, contemporary, international, and award-winning Jewish short films of all genres. Our festival celebrates the richness, complexity, and diversity of all types of Jewish experiences through short films and media. Summer Shorts is intended to engage, to educate, and to inspire the community, as we explore the full spectrum of Jewish life, values, and culture.

Patrons are asked for a suggested donation of $10 to attend the program. No one is turned away for lack of funds.

The Kehillah of Chester County, is a Jewish community collaboration, in partnership with and partially funded by a "Neighbor Initiatives Grant" from the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia.
