KINOMORPHIA is an international short film festival based in Sofia, Bulgaria. The festival aims to support independent filmmaking by showcasing fiction films, documentaries and animations that are not afraid to cross boundaries with uncompromising style and powerful storytelling.
KINOMORPHIA provides platform for films that use the language of cinema not only as an exciting art form but also to engage with the issues of today's world.
Keeping in mind the uncertainties that surround the COVID-19 pandemic, we aim to preserve the contact between audience and filmmakers by organising a physical event with screenings in cinemas.
In light of the COVID-19 pandemic and its likely long term economic impact we will try to keep the submissions fees as low as possible. These are trying times for culture and art all over the world and KINOMORPHIA is determined to support the short films and their authors. We will get through this together.
The screenings are taking place in Cinema House - the leading cinema in the city, Vlaykova - the oldest working cinema in Sofia and other places in the historic centre of the city.
Submissions are open for the fourth edition of the festival, May 17-23, 2021. You can send your films regardless of the genre, form or year of completion. Documentary films must be no longer than 60 minutes and all other no longer than 30 minutes long to be considered. If your film is not in English, it should have embedded subtitles in English.
Every film, selected for screening will receive an Official Selection Laurel. The best films will receive laurels and a certificate in the following categories:
