COVID-19 update:
Due to Covid-19 Pandemic, the Festival is unable to invite foreign film makers and guests. However, winners will be announced and subsequently awarded prizes (“Golden Dinosaur” and “Dinosaur Footprint”) and both winners in main competition will be invited to 2021 edition in Kutaisi with fully founded trip.
As 2020 was not a good year for film production thus, films made in 2018, 2019 as well as 2020 will be allowed to participate in competition. (accepted for selection)
Kutaisi is the second largest and one of the oldest cities of Georgia. It boasts a diverse historical and cultural heritage - dinosaur footprints, a myth of the Argonauts, the UNESCO-protected architectural monuments, Kutaisi having been the ancient capital of Georgia for centuries as well as a 112-year-old film making tradition.
The Festival will bring cinema back to Kutaisi. Kutaisi International Short Film Festival will revive cultural life in the region and help the city celebrate cinema annually.
The Festival’s focus is on short films and it aims at discovering new talents and voices in film industry and cinema. The Festival will highlight the importance and the values of short films with an aim to revive its popularity among public.
The first edition will be held on 3-7 November and the events will include lectures, master-classes and workshops.
Prizes and awards.
Prizes will be awarded in these categories: Best Short Film and Best Director in the Main International Competition.
The jury of the Main Competition will declare winners in the above categories. The winners will receive the Golden Dinosaur prizes and both winners will be invited to 2021 edition in Kutaisi with fully founded trip
Winner in the Super Short Film category
The jury of the Super Short Film will award the winner with the Dinosaur Footprint Prize.
Independent Film Critics’ Jury
The jury comprised of independent film critics will choose their favorite short film.
