The LASA2017 Film Festival is delighted to invite filmmakers from around the world to submit their Latin American productions. Featured and short films produced in 2015 and 2016 will be accepted. They can be in the form of a documental, a fiction, an animation and an experimental film. Music videos are not accepted. The purpose of the Festival is to bring to light the wide range of global film productions regarding Latin-American so we will ONLY ACCEPT LATIN AMERICAN FILMS AND/OR FILMS OF LATIN AMERICAN THEMES/CONTENT. ALL FILMS SUBMITED MUST PROVIDE A DOWNLOAD OPTION.
The film selection process will take into consideration the artistic and technical quality of the film, its contribution to the Latin Americans’ reflection and discussion of their political, social and cultural affairs; its contribution to the birth of the film industry in the region; and its relevance to the themes of the congress.
The submission of films for consideration must be sent between the 1st of August and the 10th of November of 2016. The selected films will be announced on the 15th of January of 2017. The filmmakers will receive an email to let them know the next steps.
Process of submission:
To submit the films, you must download, complete and send the submission form (http://lasa.international.pitt.edu/eng/congress/film-festival2.asp) via email to lasafilmfest@gmail.com. A link to the film in consideration must be included in the form, with the corresponding password to access it. If there are any questions, please email: lasafilmfest@gmail.com. FilmFreeway SUBMISSIONS THAT ARE NOT ACCOMPANIED BY THIS FORM WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED.
If the submitter would prefer to send the DVD via mail, they can print the form and send the DVD with the form via FedEx or DHL to:

Please include on the envelope, the following text: “Sin valor comercial. Material cultural”.
It is up to the filmmaker to determine whether they will send their submission via email or mail.
If any filmmaker has any issues with the submission options, please email us to be able to put a plan together for an alternative way of receiving the films.
If a DVD was submitted for review, the DVD will not be returned and it will be deposited in the Festival’s archives.
The selected films will be shown in digital support.
