SUBMISSIONS, RULES and GUIDELINES

The 2016 LIVE FREE OR DIE FILM FESTIVAL will take place in Manchester, NH, on August 12 & 13, 2016.

Films from all genres will be accepted for review and we welcome first time filmmakers!

Filmmakers must have copyright over all footage and soundtrack used in their film upon submission.

Films are allowed to have been previously shown. So don't worry!

Filmmakers are welcome to submit via FilmFreeway.com.
The LIVE FREE OR DIE FILM FESTIVAL will only accept submissions through FilmFreeway.
Emailing a link directly to the festival will not be considered.

Your submission must be available in English or in the original language with English subtitles.

Finalists are expected:
To provide minimum of 3 high resolution still images from your film for promotions.

In spirit of the festival, wherever possible, be available for interviews, participate in promotional activities, of course attend the festival (if possible) and be available to accept awards in person.

When submitting, we would love to know if this is:
The premier of your film or work of art
Your first film festival.
The first time you are showing your film to a live audience.
Or if you have already been in a festival and this is the first time this particular piece is showing.

The submission process and consideration is not affected by the date you submit your film as long as it is received by our submission deadline! We appreciate, however, filmmakers submitting their work as early as possible.

*Students must provide proof of enrollment by Student ID and school contact.

JUDGING

QUESTIONS YOU MAY HAVE:

Q: How can I pay the submissions fee?
A: FilmFreeway collects fees upon submission to the LIVE FREE OR DIE FILM FESTIVAL.

Q: Do I have to pay a submissions fee if I am submitting a student film?
A: Yes. because your student film will be displayed and reviewed along side of films of seasoned film makers and other artists. Students do receive a discounted rate! See DEADLINES AND FEES.

Q: Can I get my money back if you don't accept my film?
A: No, of course not. That is not our policy.

Q: Do I have to obtain rights and clearances for the music or other copyrighted material included in my film?
A: Yes, of course you do. We do not believe in the stealing of intellectual property. All creatives work hard. So obtaining clearances is important.

Q: How do you distinguish short films from feature films?
A: There are actually a lot more platforms other than just short and feature. However, the LIVE FREE OR DIE FILM FESTIVAL will determine upon viewing what categories the work falls under. The most standard rules are 40 minutes above and 40 minutes below.

Q: Is there an age restriction?
A: There is no age restriction for filmmakers, but submitters must be at least 18 years of age in order to adhere to all contracts and guidelines.
