About the festival

BACK FOR OUR FIFTH EVENT!
Submit your films to the short film cinema.

We have screened and represented short films from many of the worlds leading festivals, as well as films backed by some of the best film organisations. For example; Aesthetica, Nashville, Palm Springs, St Louis, Berlin, Festival De Cannes Court Métrage, as well as backing from Film London, BFI, British arts Council to name but a few!

––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––

Submitting is more than just sending in your film. You will be welcomed into our NETWORK so we can continue to invite you to events and networking opportunities. This is the start of DISTRIBUTION, for everyone. Become part of the movement today!

In a world of big budget and HUGE budget film, it’s hard to be seen in the indie market. What happens to indie films after festivals? We're saying, stop shelving the shorts and get your films seen again and again just as if they were theatrically released.

London Lo-No Pop-up Cinema provides screening and exhibition to independent films. We operate in venues across London screening evenings of films to the capital. Unlike mainstream cinema we will only screen the super low budget, the talent of the future.

––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––

We’ve started with our pop-up events, gaining ground and getting short films out there. The aim is to build the pop up so we are running more and more regular events, with the view to monetising short film distribution through our own permanent short film cinema in the heart of London (watch this space!). We don't just screen films we also host Q and As with the filmmakers, talks from industry practitioners etc. (at a previous event we had a talk from Film London, London Calling funded short filmmakers Jimmy Dean and Ellie Gocher).

––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––

There is a new market for indie film which we hope to support, and feed the rewards back to all the indie filmmakers out there. Join us for some small stories.

––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––
(why should I have to pay to enter if you’re so serious about supporting indie film?!)
––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––

Although we actively seek out and approach what we consider the best films for the events, it’s hard to always be seen. We know the struggle for indie filmmakers to get spotted and picked up. So to give you a greater chance you can pay a small admin fee to submit your film via FilmFreeway as this guarantees our team WILL watch it and it WILL be considered.

Right now, as with all start ups, we need to get our feet off the ground and get the ball rolling. By paying the small admin fee to submit your film to our network you are encouraging and backing your own future. In time we will charge a ticket price for our events, and the submission fee will not be a necessity. Until we have built up our community we have to start somewhere, and with the help of the already flourishing indie film circuit, we can hopefully create a return on your small investment.

––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––
(How we work)
––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––

Films are entered and much like with a festival a selection is made to form our evenings. However unlike festivals if you are not picked at first thats not to say we won't come calling later on, when we have an evening programme that your film would suit.

Our events are casual, we are always interested in filmmakers taking part in Q and As and we encourage a discussion at the end! We might even play a few games.

Join us and invite your family and friends along to one of our upcoming events. See the website for more information.

We do not offer awards or prizes, we are all about exhibiting your work and building a cinema audience for independent short film.

Although there are no prizes for the films, there are prizes for YOU GUYS watching! We run a fun quiz with questions about each of the evenings films, as well as a "guess the film review" quiz! The winner of these quizzes will take home a prize.

At our first event the prize was 4 fantastic cinema posters, donated to us by the Everyman Hampstead. We had La La Land, Trainspotting 2, Logan and Manchester by the Sea!!
