About the festival

This intimate festival is a part of the Loyola University New Orleans' Feminist Festival, as a celebration of women filmmakers and artists. The Feminist Festival is co-hosted by the Loyola New Orleans Women's Resource Center, Tulane University, and the New Orleans Film Society in honor of Women's History Month and International Women's Day.

We're celebrating our fourth year by holding a short film competition to showcase and celebrate women in cinema. Our jury (students, faculty and industry professionals) will also award prizes to the best Student Film, and the top Jury Prize. We will announce the date of the 2021 Festival as soon as it is finalized by the University.

Loyola’s fourth annual Feminist Festival celebrates the extraordinary triumphs centuries of feminists have achieved in the long pursuit of gender equity and explores how we might continue to pave the path forward for future generations. It calls on feminists from all demographics and backgrounds to gather for a common cause, to engage in dialogue, to develop new understandings, and to galvanize each other and our communities to transform our society by practicing intersectional feminism.

Proceeds from the festival will be going to both the Loyola Feminist Festival hosted annually by the Women's Resource Center.

The Loyola Feminist Fest considers each film submitted to be in competition. The Jury Prize, selected, screened and voted upon by our student/faculty jury, will be rewarded with a cash prize, amount to be determined.

We will also give the following awards to qualified films:
- Best Student Film- $100
- Audience Best in Show Award- $100

Please note that all prizes will be paid in USD.
