MACABRO FICH invites you to submit your Long Feature and Short Horror Films (fiction, documentary, animation, experimental, etc.) for the XIX edition of Mexico City’s International Horror Film Festival in August, 2020.

1- GUIDELINES
1.1 No age or nationality limit.
1.2 Each participant can submit as many works as desired.
1.3 Each work will be considered mainly to be included in the COMPETITION sections: Long International Feature, International Short Film, Mexican Short Film and Animated Short Film. Works not selected for competition could be chosen to be screened in another section.
1.4 We don’t pay rental fee for Films in Competition.
1.5 There are no restrictions for the production format.
1.6 Macabro FICH will accept works from 2018 to date for the Competition Sections
1.7 Macabro FICH wil not accept for Competition Sections MEXICAN or INTERNATIONAL Long Feature Films that had been screened in Mexico City or with commercial exhibitions previous to Macabro’s 2020 edition. These Works could be eligible to be screened in a different section as part of the Exhibition.
2.- SUBMISSIONS
2.1 Submissions will be received from the release date of this Call for Works
2.2 We will accept submission only by FilmFreeway via: https://filmfreeway.com/festival/Macabro
2.3 Authors are fully responsible for the rights of their works.
2.4 Submission Deadline for Macabro Film Festival 19th Edition: April 30ty, 2020. We won't accept works submited after de deadline.
3.- FILM SELECTION
3.1 Films could be selected for COMPETITION or EXHIBITION according to the Festival Organization. This decision is unappelable.
3.2 The Festival Organization will let the participants know the dates and schedule of the Films.
3.3 The screening of the films will be in DCP and Blu-Ray formats.
3.4 Films spoken in a different language than Spanish will be screened with Spanish/English Subtitles.
3.5 Works selected for the official competition, must be sent in dates and formats previously agreed with the Festival Organization.
3.6 Winners of the competition could be screened for Festival Sponsors and Allies.
3.7 With your submission you agree to be part of the Macabro FICH screenings all year around in cities within Mexico and other countries. The organization will notify via e-mail of any exhibition of the Long Feature or Short Films in alternative venues or showcase after the main event.
3.8 The Festival could invite films for the Competition Section. The request of a screener is not considered as an invitation.
3.9 The considered length for a long feature will be from 60 to 120 minutes.
3.10 The considered length for a short film will be from 1 to 29 minutes, credits included.
3.11 Medium-length films will be consider from 30 to 59 minutes. Selection and programming will be decided by the Organization.
4.- FILMS EXHIBITION AND SHIPMENT
4.1 Films selection will be limited.
4.2 In case the Film submitted is a Work in progress, you must agree with the Organization a date of delivering the Final Work, if not, the Festival Organization can declare it out of Competition. Screenings of a “work in progress” will be decided by the Festival Organization.
4.3 Macabro FICH will contact directly each filmmaker to notify the FILM SELECTION and the terms of participation.
4.4. If your film is not selected and you request a technical written verdict, it will have a cost of $100.00 USD.
4.5 Selected Long Features must have a DCP and Bluray exhibition copies.
5.- JURY
5.1 The Official Jury will be composed by national and international Horror Filmmakers and Specialists and will be fully responsible of the selection of the Awards. MACABRO FICH will release the names of the juror during its press conference in August, 2020.
5.2 Decisions of the Jury will be definitive and could declare empty any of the categories.
6.- GUIDELINES ACCEPTANCE
6.1 Festival Organization will solve any doubt or controversies. The final decision will be unappealable.
6.2 Festival Organization could show fragments of films from the Official Selection for promotional purposes (website, youtube, social networks, TV).
6.3 Submission imply conditions acceptance.
7.- AWARDS
Macabro: Mexico City lnternational Horror Film Festival establish the next awards:
7.1 Macabro Red Award for International Horror Long Feature Film – Macabro Red Figure
7.2 Macabro Red Award for IberoAmerican Horror Long Feature Film – Macabro Blue Figure
7.3 Macabro Silver Award for Best Long Feature Film Director – Macabro Silver Figure
7.4 Macabro Jade Award for Best Mexican Short Film – Macabro Green Figure
7.5 Macabro Onix Award for Best international Short Film – Macabro Black Figure
7.6 Macabro Animation Award for Best Animated Short Film – Macabro Violet Figure
7.7 Macabro Ghost Award for Best Picture selected by the Macabro Audience – Macabro White Figure.
Every movie produced among 2018 and 2020 of every Country and festival section could be voted by Macabro Audience.
7.8 Macabro Press Award – Macabro Bronze Award
Winner will be selected by at least three members of the press that covers the festival.
7.9 Macabro will announce financial or sponsored awards for each competition.
8. ABOUT MACABRO
Macabro FICH is produced by the nonprofit Organization Arte Audiovisual Alternativo, A.C. that owns copyrights for Macabro FICH, Macabro logo and Macabro Film Festival. Any and all use without permission is forbidden.

Te invitamos a participar en la XIX edición de Macabro: Festival Internacional de Cine de Horror de la Ciudad de México, el cual tendrá lugar en el mes de agosto de 2020.

1- BASES DE PARTICIPACIÓN
1.1 No hay límite de edad o nacionalidad para participar.
1.2 Cada participante podrá inscribir tantas obras como desee.
1.3 Las obras serán consideradas en primera instancia para ser incluidas en las secciones de COMPETENCIA: Largometraje Internacional de Horror, largometraje iberoamericano de Horror, cortometraje mexicano de horror, cortometraje internacional de horror y cortometraje animado de horror. Los filmes NO seleccionados en competencia podrían ser considerados para las secciones de EXHIBICIÓN PARALELA.
1.4 Macabro FICH no paga derechos de exhibición para películas en competencia.
1.5 No hay restricción del formato original de realización de la obra.
1.6 La fecha de producción para participar en la competencia no podrá ser anterior al año 2018.
1.7 Los largometrajes que hayan sido proyectados previamente en la Ciudad de México a la edición 2020 de Macabro, NO podrán participar en la selección competitiva, sólo podrán ser considerados para su EXHIBICIÓN dentro del festival.
2.- INSCRIPCIÓN.
2.1 El período de inscripciones inicia a partir de la publicación de esta convocatoria.
2.2. El envío de fichas de inscripción y screeners solo se recibirá vía internet a través del sitio https://filmfreeway.com/festival/Macabro
2.3 Los autores son responsables de los derechos de sus obras.
2.4 La fecha límite de inscripción es: 30 de abril de 2020. No aceptaremos inscripciones posteriores a la fecha límite señalada.
3.- SELECCIÓN.
3.1 Las obras serán seleccionadas para competencia o exhibición. La decisión final será inapelable.
3.2 La organización acordará la fecha y orden de exhibición de las películas.
3.3 La proyección de las obras seleccionadas se realizará preferentemente en DCP o Blu-Ray.
3.4 Las obras habladas en lenguas distintas al español se presentarán en versión subtitulada en inglés o en español.
3.5 Las copias de exhibición deberán ser enviadas en tiempos y formatos acordados con la organización
3.6 Las obras ganadoras de algún premio podrán ser proyectadas por la organización en los compromisos que ésta tiene con sus aliados.
3.7 La programación de MACABRO FICH podría ser llevada a otros estados y países. Con tu inscripción accedes a que tu obra participe en las muestras posteriores al festival. En caso de ser solicitados para exhibiciones posteriores a la Muestra principal, la organización notificará vía email a los productores, directores y/o distribuidores.
3.8 MACABRO FICH podrá invitar largometrajes para la sección de competencia. La solicitud de screeners para visionado no será considerada como una invitación.
3.9 La duración para considerar la selección de un largometraje será de 60 a 120 minutos con créditos incluidos.
3.10 La duración para considerar la selección de un cortometraje será de 1 a 29 minutos con créditos incluidos.
3.11 La organización se reservará el derecho de programar mediometrajes (de 30 a 59 minutos).
4.- ENVÍO DE LOS FILMES SELECCIONADOS
4.1 Las obras seleccionadas deberán ser enviadas en tiempos y formatos acordados con la organización del Festival.
4.2 En caso de que la película seleccionada se trate de un “work in progress”, DEBERÁ SER NOTIFICADO A LA ORGANIZACIÓN AL MOMENTO DE LA INSCRIPCIÓN y deberá acordar con la organización en una fecha de entrega, de lo contrario podría quedar fuera de la programación sin previo aviso. La organización se reserva el derecho de incluir el “work in progress” en su programación.
4.3 Macabro FICH contactará directamente a todos y cada uno de los autores de las OBRAS SELECCIONADAS para notificarles sus condiciones de participación.
4.4 En caso de que tu obra no quede seleccionada y solicites el dictamen sobre la misma, éste tendrá un costo de $100 USD.
5.- JURADO
5.1 El Jurado Oficial estará compuesto por reconocidos cineastas y especialistas nacionales e internacionales y será el encargado de otorgar los premios. Macabro FICH dará a conocer a los integrantes del Jurado, previo a la realización del Festival.
5.2 La decisión del Jurado será inapelable y podría declarar desierto alguno de los premios.
6.- ACEPTACIÓN DE LAS BASES
6.1 La Organización resolverá las dudas que pudieran plantearse, siendo su decisión final inapelable.
6.2 La Organización podrá exhibir fragmentos de los largometrajes seleccionados con fines promocionales (website, redes sociales, televisión, etc.)
6.3 La inscripción implica la aceptación de estas bases.
7.- PREMIOS
Se establecen los siguientes premios:
7.1 Macabro Rojo a Mejor Largometraje Internacional– Estatuilla FICH Rojo
7.2 Macabro Rojo a Mejor Largometraje Latinoamericano – Estatuilla FICH Azul
7.3 Macabro de Plata al Mejor Director - Estatuilla FICH Plateada
7.4 Macabro de Jade al Mejor Cortometraje Mexicano – Estatuilla FICH Verde
7.5 Macabro de Ónix al Mejor Cortometraje Internacional – Estatuilla FICH Negra
7.6 Macabro al Mejor Cortometraje de Animación – Estatuilla FICH Violeta
7.7 Macabro Fantasma a película elegida por el público Macabro – Estatuilla FICH Blanca
Todas las películas producidas entre 2018 y 2020 sin importar nacionalidad o sección, podrán ser votadas para el premio del público.
7.8 Macabro de Bronce a Mejor película elegida por la prensa – Estatuilla FICH Bronce
El premio será otorgado por los miembros de la prensa que estén acreditados para cubrir el festival.
7.9 Menciones especiales en diferentes rubros.
7.10 Macabro FICH anunciará con oportunidad los premios económicos y/o en especie para cada competencia.
8. SOBRE MACABRO
Macabro es un evento producido por Arte Audiovisual Alternativo, A.C., una organización sin fines de lucro dedicada a la gestión cultural y producción audiovisual.
Macabro FICH, el logotipo de Macabro y Festival Macabro son de uso exclusivo de Arte Audiovisual Alternativo, A.C. Se prohíbe su uso sin previa autorización de los organizadores del Festival.
