The 8th Made-in-Michigan Film Festival is open to all genres and categories (full length features, animation, shorts, documentaries, etc).
All entries must have a significant connection to the state of Michigan. We suggest that a majority of the scenes are filmed within the State. Films using Michigan residents as cast and crew will have an advantage. Special exemptions to the above rules can be granted if your submission helps promote film making in the State of Michigan. If you are unsure if your film qualifies please contact the program director, Paul Weiss. Final decisions will be made by the MiMFF Board.
All festival deadlines are detailed on the main page under "Dates & Deadline". NO FILMS WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER NOVEMBER 15TH 2016.
Fees will be charged based on when your film is submitted. All fees are listed on the main page under "Categories & Fees"
FESTIVAL SELECTIONS
Our film notification date is December 1st, 2017. We reserve the right to inform some filmmakers of their film acceptance before the official notification date. These filmmakers agree to not make any posting on social media concerning their acceptance until December 1st.
If your film is accepted, MiMFF will need the capability of screening your film at the Bronner Performing Arts Center. All feature length submissions will be required to mail in a regular or Blu-Ray DVD by January 5th, 2017. All other submissions less the 1 hour will be asked to provide a download link.

To promote your film and our festival, It is suggested that those filmmaker accepted into our festival submit electronic press kits. We would like each press kit to at a minimum include a film poster. These kits could also include a short synopsis, a filmmakers bio, a list of the principal cast and credits, a black/white productions still and any other media information available. Any photo submitted may be used for festival promotion.
Non-English language films must have subtitles.
The number, date and time of screenings are at the discretion of the festival.
The Made-in-Michigan Film Festival is hereby granted the right to utilize an excerpt from any film submitted and accepted for exhibition at the Festival for promotional purposes.
The individual or corporation submitting the film hereby warrants that it is authorized to commit the film for screening, and understands and accepts these requirements and regulations.
The undersigned shall indemnify and hold harmless the Made-in-Michigan Film Festival from and against any and all claims, liabilities, losses, damages, and expenses (including but not limited to attorney's fees, and costs of the court) which may be incurred by reason of any claim involving copyright, trademark, credits, publicity, screening, and loss of or damage to the screening videos entered.
If a film is accepted, the programmers request the right to screen the film for educational and promotional purpose, for the period of one year. And will do so, unless directed otherwise.
