MENDE – Sierra Leone (Gullah) origin along with cultural ties to West Africa and the many global geographical areas of Black descent.
In the Gullah tradition sweetgrass baskets are interwoven with time, preparation and patience. So too are the making of films. In this spirit we would like to interweave cultures, countries, race, religion, history, music, dance, and more within our festival.
The Mende Film & Cultural Arts Festival will be held in South Florida in 2 CITIES AND 3 DAYS. It is what we call the mini Sundance of the South.

We will award trophies to the best film Short, Short Documentary, Full Feature and Full Documentary.
Our scoring system is based on a 5 pt. Likert Scale in the following areas: Cinematography, Sound, Editing, Continuity, Creativity/Wardrobe/Make-up/SFX, Depth of Info/Message, Actors Perf./Narration, Soundtrack/Score, Audience Attention/Sustainability
