Scouring the globe for edgy short films and indie features,
full steam ahead as we bring art and commerce together

This rockin’ three-day film festival celebrates the most innovative voices in narrative, animation, documentary, and experimental categories from all over the world.

Hop the train, jump the tracks for curated film screenings, networking soirees, and a bangin’ Saturday Eve Awards Bash with fellow film enthusiasts, attending filmmakers, and celebrity guests!

All film screenings take place on the Main Stage of the gorgeous, historic, Georgia state theater, The Springer Opera House located at 103 10th Street, Columbus, GA 31901.

Peppered throughout the three-day fest and viewed on a state-of-the-art projector with a pristine sound system, film enthusiasts will enjoy a plethora of exciting short and feature films.

Each screening is followed by a moderated Q&A session with attending filmmakers and actors.

All aboard our cinematic train for a Welcome Friday Night VIP cocktail soiree and networking gatherings throughout the fest! We celebrate at the stunning BO BARTLETT CENTER.

Cash Prizes and trophies for winning short films are celebrated and honored at Midnight Train's Saturday Eve Awards Bash.

$2,000 Cash Prize for Best Overall Film

Terms and rules

Any short film with a running time of 20 minutes or less, including credits.
Entries must be submitted as a digital submission.
Films cannot be tied to a distribution deal.
Films may not be easily-accessible. If you have uploaded to Youtube, Vimeo, etc., please password-protect to be eligible.
We are unable to accept any short film screened at another film fest in the Columbus, GA area.
Once selected, the filmmaker must have available either DCP or digital "print" (minimum format is Quicktime) for projection.
Participants agree that clips from their film and all other material related to their project may be used and/or published in the event program, MTFF website and for any promotional purposes which MTFF deems appropriate.
No screeners and/or promotional materials will be returned to the filmmaker, unless arranged in advance with the festival office.
If selected, all commercial/private property including all trademark/copyrighted materials shown or recorded on the project is the responsibility of the filmmaker. MTFF will NOT take responsibility for any infringement of copywritten materials.
The cost of delivery and pick-up of all materials is the responsibility of the filmmakers.
MTFF holds no responsibility for lost or damaged prints. While the utmost care will be taken with regard to prints, it is solely up to the filmmaker to take full responsibility (i.e. insurance).
