About the festival

Hello everyone - Ok, everything is now official, so I am happy to be able to share some very exciting news.

This past year I made the personal decision to no longer continue working on the Midwest Sci-Fi Film Festival. As much as I love doing it, since 2009 I have been basically doing this on my own and simply do not have the time to devote to it any more.

As you may know, MSFFF has always been presented as part of the CONvergence Sci-fi/Fantasy convention each year, which has been loyal and generous supporters of the festival. The Con is a fan-run event, supported by over 200 dedicated and talented individuals. I had the choice of simply shutting down the festival or selling it off on the open market, but I wanted to offer the opportunity to buy the festival to the CONvergence organization first.

I am happy to say that after about a year of collaboration, effective as of December 1st, 2019 - we have completed the sale of MSFFF to Convergence Events, Inc.

Over the next few weeks and months, we will be transitioning the ownership of the festivals assets and social media over the a new group of folks at CE. I hope introduce you to the new folks who will be in charge going forward.

At this point, unless something changes, the festival will be on hiatus for 2020 and it is planned to return in early 2021 - with one major change that I am very, very excited to announce - for the first time the festival will be a STAND ALONE EVENT, allowing more films, longer films and many other opportunities which were simply not practical being an event-within-an-event.

I would like to thank everyone on the Board of Directors of Convergence Events, as well as the CONCom for all of the support over the years, to thank all of the judges who have volunteered to evaluate the continually growing number of films submitted each year, to the loyal CON members who have attended the festival each year - and most of all - to all of the filmmakers who have submitted and were selected to screen at the festival. As a filmmaker myself - thank you for all of your hard work and boundless creativity and inspiration. You have all made this little experiment a very enjoyable and rewarding experience over the years.

Stay tuned for more news!

Thank you!
