About the festival

Monologues & Poetry International is pleased to be able to provide a platform for strong word-based performances with the skillful expression of thoughts, emotions, feelings, anxieties, or humor.

Monologues & Poetry International offers a live-screening, however, while we have a live-event scheduled, we are at the mercy of the Covid-19 virus. In the event, we are still faced with problems come November 22th, the live-event may be postponed, however, our jurors are still hard at work reviewing your films. In the event of a postponement of the live-screening, winning films will appear in a private, pay-to-view online screening event that will not be open to the public-at-large, only to paying attendees. Winning films will be announced in November. Again, this would be a private paid to view festival with a reasonable low-cost viewing fee to the public and free to all selected filmmakers. All selected films will be announced on our website for the live-screening event and will screen at a later live-event in the event of a postponement. The screening reel will also be shown on Vallejo Community Access Television and additional community access television stations. See notes under Rules & Terms.
We look forward to receiving your submissions...The festival submission period culminates with one live annual screening (online if the COVID-19 environment persists).

Categories Include:

Best Monologue/Soliloquy - Under 10 minutes
Best Spoken-Word/Poetry - Under 10 minutes

Long Version Monologues and Poetry - A maximum of 30 minutes.

We want submitters to think outside the box, use your imagination, and be creative. Monologues & Poetry International accepts Monologues, Soliloquies, and Spoken-Word Performances.

Our festival offers jury awards in the form of a trophy for First Place Winners per each age category, and certificates in each category for 2nd & 3rd Place. Winners are chosen by industry professionals including Directors of Film, Poets, Casting Directors, and Actors. Jurors bios can be found under the photos tab or on the website at www.MonologuesInternational.com.

Winning monologues outside of the US must arrange and pay any costs associated with the delivery of winners trophies including payment of shipping, insurance, and customs fees. In cases where international shipping fees are not paid, a winners certificate will be provided electronically.

Award categories are subject to change and may include a cash prize for Best of Festival. The Monologues International Film Fest reserves the right to move a monologue to a category we feel more appropriate or one that we believe is not representative of the submission age group.
