About the festival

Based at the Rose Theatre Kingston, which is alongside the home of pioneering and seminal film maker, Eadweard Muybridge, 'The Father of Film', this festival brings together some of the best international short films by new and young filmmakers featured alongside those from more seasoned film directors.
The ideal recipe therefore for an excellent showcase of international film talent for you to both participate in and enjoy watching.
The Muybridge Short Film Festival aims to give new cinematic voices a platform and present to you the next generation of talent to the film industry.
Taking place over the weekend of January 28th and January 29th 2017 with the winner being announced at the presentation ceremony on the evening of Sunday January 29th.
We welcome you all whether as an eager film maker, an excited film lover or, like us, both!

Awards & Winners

Terms and rules

Entrants must be 16 years of age old or older.
Films must be the original work of the entrants and must have been produced after January 1st 2015.
Films promoting a company or product will not be accepted.
Entries must be no more than 15 minutes in duration including title sequence and credits.
Films must have been copyright cleared for any element (e.g. music etc) which is not original.
Written permission must have been obtained from all the people actively appearing in the film.
Entries must be submitted electronically with any subtitles embedded in the film.
Entries received after January 1st and no later January 11th 2017 will be charged at £20 late submission rate.
Your status on FilmFreeway will acknowledge the receipt of your submission.
Filmmakers whose work has been shortlisted will receive notification by email by January 15th 2017
We cannot supply feedback for any individual film not shortlisted.
We cannot take responsibility for the loss, damage or delay in receiving films entered.
Muybridge Short Film Festival and The Rose Theatre reserves the right to refuse entry for any reason at its absolute discretion.
The decision of the judges is final. Neither correspondence or discussion concerning any decision will be entered into.
The entry is made at the entrant's own expense and neither the Muybridge Short Film Festival nor The Rose Theatre shall be liable for reimbursing any expenses incurred in making an entry.
Muybridge Short Film Festival and The Rose Theatre and associated parties accept no responsibility for any misuse of intellectual property rights.
Muybridge Short Film Festival and The Rose Theatre has the right to use the film or images from the film for promotional or festival screenings or on websites or for press and media purposes.
Muybridge Short Film Festival and The Rose Theatre has the right to use the film for its archive film library for viewing by any other film festival and organisations.
