About the festival

Nepal America International Film Festival 2020 Canceled Due to Coronavirus

After careful consultation with our team and advisors regarding the health and safety of everyone in our industry — our filmmakers, our partners, our sponsors, and our volunteers — we have made the difficult decision to cancel Nepal America International Film Festival, scheduled for June 26–28 in the Greater Washington DMV area (DC/Maryland/Virginia).

Following the increased and overwhelming cases and concerns about the COVID-19: both nationally and internationally, we feel that this is the best way to proceed during such an unprecedented global situation. We are very disappointed that we are unable to hold this event for our fans and supporters, but we also would like you to be back for our 2021 Film Festival.

ABOUT FILM FESTIVAL:

An annual event to celebrate diverse cultures through cinema

Nepal-America Film Society (NAFS), a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization based in Maryland, proudly announces the fourth Nepal-America International Film Festival (NAIFF). The film festival will take place from 26-28 June 2020 in Maryland. We are now accepting submissions of all genres; feature films, documentaries, animations, experimental and short films from across the globe.

NAIFF aims to bring together people from diverse cultures through the art of cinema. Since 2017 the Film Festival has built a unique reputation as an emerging platform for filmmakers with Nepali background along with American filmmakers and filmmakers from international diaspora.

The festival showcases all genres of films including feature lengths, documentaries, animations, experimental and shorts from Nepal, America and South and South East Asian countries. Films from the Global Peace Film Festival Florida are also screened in the Special Sidebar Section. Additionally, films from the Washington DC, Maryland, and Virginia are screened as DMV Close-up Section.

NAIFF invites filmmakers around the globe to submit their films.

A jury committee of national and international film experts will be formed. The jury committee will select the films for a selection of awards. All the participated films will be recognized by the film festival.
