About the festival

Our City Film Project is a film collective showcasing the work of filmmakers from different cities to a global audience. It is a community celebrating storytelling and passion. 
The project aims to promote filmmaking and redefine production practices. As filmmakers, the stories we tell are influenced by our background, experience, and perception but shaped by our community - Our City. 

2019 PROJECT THEME: AFRICAN SHORT FILMS

The 2019 theme will focus on the emerging filmmakers on the content and celebrate the unique vision, culture and aesthetic of storytelling in Africa.
We have tailored the project to find the best short films this year's theme has to offer as we create a platform to share the project's vision with a local and international audience at our live festivals.

Our City Film Project will focus on a chosen theme for a year which determines the accepted entries.
All filmmakers are eligible to be part of the project as long their entries meet the criteria in accordance with the rules and regulations.

All selected films will be screened at the 2019 film festival scheduled to take place on the 16th - 17th November 2019 simultaneously in 7 Cities;

Terms and rules

ELIGIBILITY AND REQUIREMENTS

***ONLY SUBMIT IF YOU MEET ANY OF THE REQUIREMENTS BELOW***

1. Films must have been completed after January 1, 2019

2. All entries must adhere to the year's project theme. The Project theme for 2019- AFRICAN SHORT FILMS.

3. Location: The Film was shot on the African continent.

4. Nationality: The Filmmaker/(s) is a National/ (are Nationals) of an African Country. Foreign nationals can also submit entries if they meet the requirement (3) stated above.

5. Diaspora Productions: Films shot outside the continent will be considered provided that the narrative deals with African Identity.

6. All local dialect films must have English Subtitles.

7. Films must be submitted via private online screener. Entries via YouTube or publicly available online will not be considered. Films that have been broadcasted on public platforms (Television, streaming sites) will be disqualified.

8. Works-in-progress will be considered for selection provided they will be completed prior to the screening.

9. We do not accept Music Videos

10. You may submit more than one film.

Submissions that do not comply with this requirements are not eligible for consideration and will be disqualified.
