About the festival

Out For Blood is a queer horror film festival based in Cambridge, UK
Out For Blood is a film festival which showcases some of the best work by LGBTQIA+ filmmakers from around the world.

After being tired of the same queer club scenes in our own community, and feeling like we didn’t quite fit in, we decided to create something new and alternative. We launched in 2018 to a sold out venue and we plan to keep getting bigger and better!

We’re tired of seeing tropes which reinforce the idea that queer people are nothing more than monsters in horror movies. We’re tired of queer characters being killed off as a plot device.

We want to see a diverse representation of queer identities on screen. We want to celebrate and promote the work of queer filmmakers. We want to create welcoming spaces where horror fans from all walks of life can come together to watch and discuss a variety of spookily creative films from the genre.

We understand that some filmmakers may not be in a situation where they can be ‘outed’ by their inclusion in a queer festival. Safety and wellbeing is a priority for us, and if needed, we can accommodate and ensure the complete anonymity of filmmakers. Filmmakers in this situation are encouraged to email us and we can assist: outforbloodcambridge@outlook.com

There will be an audience vote for the Best Film. Best Film will receive Best Film laurels and a published interview.
