About the festival

Taking place annually at the historic Indie On Main theater in downtown Keyser, WV, our film festival’s mission is to celebrate and bring recognition to both the talent of native and resident West Virginians working within the film industry and the culture of West Virginia.

Our festival seeks to showcase the work of anyone working in the film industry (both independent and corporate) who is either a native or resident of West Virginia. This includes but is not limited to directors, producers, screenwriters, actors, costume designers, makeup artists, special effects artists, animators, editors, composers, stunt performers, et al. The festival also accepts films that are either filmed or set in the state of West Virginia.

Submissions will be narrowed down to a set of finalists. All finalists will have their film screened at the Indie on Main Theater on Main Street in Keyser, WV. One ticket for each finalist will be complimentary; however, they will be responsible for all other expenses. Hosted Bar graciously provided for Festival Entrants and sponsors

Awards will be determined in part by a guest jury. Award categories are:

Best Feature Film (about or filmed in West Virginia)
Best Short Film (about or filmed in West Virginia)
Best Produced Screenplay (written by a native or resident of WV)
Best Unproduced Screenplay (written by a native or resident of WV)
Best Performance (by a native or resident of WV)
Best Production Contribution (by a production crewmember that is a native or resident of WV)
Best Postproduction Contribution (by a post-production crewmember that is a native or resident of WV)
Best Emerging Artist for Any Category

Terms and rules

Films may be submitted through either FilmFreeway or Paddy Town Film Festival.

Winners for all categories, other than Best Emerging Artist Award, will be determined by jury regardless if submitted through FilmFreeway or the Paddy Town Film Festival website.

Winner of Best Emerging Artist Award will be determined by popular vote only if submitted through Paddy Town Film Festival.

Films submitted for the Best Emerging Artist Award must be provided in single file format having both audio and visual of HD quality accessible by streaming from any number of video content streaming platforms, such as Vimeo, YouTube, FaceBook, Dailymotion, etc, in a media file or on DVD or Bluray.

Other than the Best Emerging Artist category, films submitted through the Paddy Town Film Festival website WILL NOT be made publicly available for viewing unless expressly requested on part of the submitter.

No compensation, remuneration, or licensing fees will be paid for any content submitted. Content will not be viewed publicly outside of the festival screening unless explicitly agreed to between submitter and host venue.

Any film featuring the work of a production crewmember who is a native or resident West Virginian is eligible for this category. Films submitted to this category will have their West Virginian crewmembers considered for our Best Production Contribution Award. This includes but is not limited to producers, directors, cinematographers/directors of photography, gaffers, production designers, costume designers, etc.

Any film featuring the postproduction contribution by a native or resident West Virginian is eligible for this work.
