1. GENERAL
1.1 They will be able to participate in the PANAMA ANIMATION FESTIVAL 2020, filmmakers and students of animation, graphic design, social communication or other disciplines related to animation, from all continents, as participants. In case of not being selected, these works could be taken into account by the selection committee so that they make up the Official Non-Competitive Selection to be exhibited as a sample.
1.2. The works will be accepted as feature films and short films, however the award will be unique for each category (one award per category).
1.3. The maximum duration of the works will be: short films 15 minutes and feature films up to 90 minutes. These may have been shot on any system, both analog and digital.
1.4. The works must have finished their production between 2019-2020.
1.5. Proposals may be sent through one of the following channels:
- Web: The registration of the works must be done through the FilmFreeway platform. There, you must complete the registration form, as well as attach the required documents (2 photos of promotional material, 1 photo of the director, synopsis no more than 6 lines, Arial font 12, optional send a "behind the scenes" in photos or video).
- Email convocatoria@panamaanimation.com for consultations regarding the process.
NOTE: See point 5 to see the format in which the works should be presented and See point 7 for all the documents to be presented.
1.6. All those projects whose original dialogues are not in Spanish, must be subtitled in that language (burned on the image). If not, they will be rejected.
1.7. The Organization will agree on the selection, date and order of exhibition of the works that participate in the PANAMA ANIMATION FESTIVAL 2020 and of any itinerant project subsequent to the Festival. In the latter case, only those works in which the person responsible for each work expressly authorizes will be screened.
1.8. Registration has a fee to participate in the festival.
1.9. Proposals received after the closing date of the call are excluded from participating.
1.10. Participation in all Festival activities is mandatory. For foreign filmmakers, discounts will be applied to lodging and transportation to and from Panama City, in case of attending Festival activities.
3. JURY
3.1. The Official Jury, made up of professionals from the national and international media, culture and communication will be responsible for awarding the awards. The awards will be granted to the Director of the work.
3.2. The decisions of both the Selection Committee and the Official Jury will be unappealable.
3.3. The Jury reserves the right to declare prizes and deserted mentions, if they do not find works that go with the line that represents the Festival.
3.4. The jury's decision will be public at the close of the PANAMA ANIMATION FESTIVAL 2020
3.5. The Jury will evaluate the script, production, direction, and the technical and artistic resources with which the participating production was executed.
5. TECHNICAL CONDITIONS
5.1 Video files in H264 or AppleProRes Quicktime (.mov) or H264 (.mp4) formats are accepted in the native size.
5.2 You can send proposals by WeTransfer platforms, Google Drive, Dropbox. If you have very large files we recommend Filemail or MyAirBridge, which are free.
5.3 It is preferable that the files are not larger than 10GB.
5.4 Mega downloads are not accepted.
5.5 All those projects whose original dialogues are not in Spanish, must be subtitled in that language (burned on the image). If not, they will be rejected.
6. RIGHTS
Each production must have the script registration rights and the participant of the Panama Animation Festival 2020 must be responsible for the image rights of the people that appear in their videos, as well as the rights to the soundtrack and / or original music. And as a final point, the registration implies the acceptance of all the bases.
In the event that the participant fails to comply with the conditions stipulated in national and international legislation regarding copyright matters, he will be obliged to assume the legal consequences that this act entails and must compensate the festival for that reason, in case third parties present accusations to that effect.
7. DEVELOPMENT OF THE CONTEST
For local and foreign filmmakers registration will be done online during the aforementioned date, they must accept the rules of the contest, and send the registration form along with the following requirements:
- Technical Sheet - Artistic
- One (1) Photograph of the work (in .jpg format, minimum 300 dpi resolution)
- Two (2) photos of the promotional material of the work
- One (1) Photograph of the director (in .jpg format, minimum 300 dpi resolution)
- Letter signed and scanned by the creative team: director, scriptwriter, producer and / or owner of the film, where he authorizes the PANAMA ANIMATION FESTIVAL to show his proposal. The people who sign must include a copy of their personal identity document.
- It is optional to present material in images or video of the "behind the scenes" of the production.

1. GENERALES
1.1 Podrán participar del PANAMA ANIMATION FESTIVAL 2020, realizadores de cine y estudiantes de animación, diseño gráfico, comunicación social u otras disciplinas afines a la animación, de todos los continentes, en calidad de participantes. En caso de no ser seleccionados, estos trabajos podrían ser tomados en cuenta por el comité de selección para que conformen la Selección Oficial No Competitiva a ser exhibida en calidad de muestra.
1.2. Serán aceptadas las obras en calidad de largometrajes y cortometrajes, sin embargo la premiación será única para cada categoría (un galardón por categoría).
1.3. La duración máxima de las obras será: cortometrajes 15 minutos y largometrajes hasta 90 minutos. Éstos podrán haber sido rodados en cualquier sistema, tanto analógico como digital.
1.4. Los trabajos deben haber terminado su producción entre 2019-2020
1.5. Las propuestas podrán ser enviadas por una de las siguientes vías:
- Web: La inscripción de las obras deberá hacerse mediante la plataforma FilmFreeway. Allí, se debe completar la ficha de Inscripción, así como adjuntar los documentos requeridos. (2 fotos de material promocional, 1 foto del director/a, sinopsis no mayor a 6 líneas,letra arial 12, opcional enviar un "detras de camaras" en fotos o video).
- Para consultas escribir a convocatoria@panamaanimation.com.
NOTA: Ver punto 5 para ver el formato en que deberán ser presentadas las obras y Ver punto 7 para todos los documentos a presentar.
1.6. Todos aquellos proyectos cuyos diálogos originales no sean en español, deberán estar subtitulados en dicho idioma (quemados sobre la imágen). Si no es así, serán rechazados.
1.7. La Organización acordará la selección, fecha y orden de exhibición de las obras que participen dentro del PANAMA ANIMATION FESTIVAL 2020 y de cualquier proyecto Itinerante posterior al Festival. En el último caso, solamente se proyectarán aquellas obras en las que la persona responsable de cada trabajo lo autorice expresamente.
1.8. Hay un costo de inscripción para participar del festival.
1.9. Las propuestas que se reciben con posterioridad a la fecha de cierre de convocatoria quedan excluidas de participar.
1.10. Es de carácter obligatorio la participación en todas las actividades del Festival. Para los realizadores extranjeros se gestionan descuentos en conceptos de hospedaje y de traslado hacia y desde la Ciudad de Panamá, en caso de poder asistir a las actividades del Festival.
3. JURADO
3.1. El Jurado Oficial, compuesto por profesionales del medio cinematográfico, la cultura y la comunicación nacional e internacional será el encargado de otorgar los galardones. Los galardones serán otorgados al Director de la obra.
3.2. Las decisiones, tanto del Comité de Selección como del Jurado Oficial, serán inapelables.
3.3. El Jurado se reserva el derecho a declarar premios y menciones desiertos, si no encuentran trabajos que vayan con la línea que representa al Festival.
3.4. El fallo del jurado será público al cierre del PANAMA ANIMATION FESTIVAL 2020.
3.5. El Jurado valorará el guión, producción, dirección, y los recursos técnicos y artísticos con que fue ejecutada la producción participante.
5. CONDICIONES TÉCNICAS
5.1. Se aceptan archivos de vídeo en formato H264 o AppleProRes Quicktime (.mov) o H264 (.mp4) en el tamaño nativo.
5.2. Se puede enviar propuesta por las plataformas WeTransfer, Google Drive, Dropbox. En caso de tener archivos muy grandes se recomienda Filemail o MyAirBridge, que son gratuitos.
5.3. Es preferible que los archivos no sean de un tamaño mayor de 10GB.
5.4. No se aceptan descargas por Mega.
5.5. Todos aquellos proyectos cuyos diálogos originales no sean en español, deberán estar subtitulados en dicho idioma (quemados sobre la imágen). Si no es así serán rechazados.
6. DERECHOS
Cada producción deberá contar con los derechos de registro de guión y el participante del Panama Animation Festival 2019 deberá ser el responsable de los derechos de imagen de las personas que aparezcan en sus vídeos, así como los derechos de la banda sonora y/o música original. Y como punto final, la inscripción implica la aceptación de todas las bases.
En caso que el participante incumpla con las condiciones previstas en la legislación nacional e internacional respecto la materia de derecho de autor, estará obligado a asumir las consecuencias legales que este acto acarrea y deberá indemnizar al festival por tal motivo, en caso que terceras personas presenten acusaciones a tal efecto.
7. DESARROLLO DEL CONCURSO
Para los realizadores locales y extranjeros la inscripción se realizará online durante la fecha señalada anteriormente, deberán aceptar las bases del concurso, y enviar la ficha de inscripción junto a los siguientes requisitos:
- Ficha Técnica - Artística.
- Una (1) Fotografía de la obra (en formato .jpg mínimo 300 dpi de resolución).
- Dos (2) fotos del material promocional de la obra.
- Una (1) Fotografía del director (en formato .jpg mínimo 300 dpi de resolución).
- Carta firmada y escaneada por el equipo creativo: director, guionista, productor y / o dueño de la película, en donde autorice al PANAMA ANIMATION FESTIVAL a mostrar su propuesta. Las personas que firman deben incluir copia de su documento de identidad personal.
- Es opcional presentar material en imágenes o video del "detras de camara" de la producción.
