About the festival

EMMEDIA welcomes submissions of new or recent media art work for our 6th PARTICLE + WAVE Media Arts Festival from January 30 - February 1, 2020, a 3-day event that will celebrate the critical innovation and creativity present in the media arts community. This festival will showcase an art form that by it’s very nature, is constantly evolving and growing with the integration of ever-changing technological processes.

Along with our screening program, we also accept submissions for media art installations/exhibitions and live performances. For more information on how to submit, go to: http://emmedia.ca/programming/call-for-submissions/

The formal screening portion of the festival will take place on January 30, 2020 in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. We also screen at other venues, and wherever appropriate during the festival, and dependent on the work selected. We accept very particular short films, videos, and animations that are independent, experimental and/or avant-garde in nature. We are looking for films that are innovative and unique in the way they tell a narrative and/or how the work was created.

About EMMEDIA Gallery & Production Society:

Since its inception in 1979, EMMEDIA has maintained a two-part mandate: to support both the production and presentation of media arts. EMMEDIA responds to a broad community by offering affordable access to media art production tools and facilities, services, technical and educational support, an array of production programs and residencies, and a year round schedule of public exhibition programs including the PARTICLE + WAVE Media Arts Festival. Our programs strive to foster artistic dialogue and engagement through complementary activities such as artist talks and panel discussions, workshops and publications. For more information, go to www.emmedia.ca

All works selected will receive a screening fee ($90 CAD) based on the Independent Media Arts Alliance Fee Schedule.
